Not only am I having trouble finding what I want in my new kitchen cabinet arrangement, sometimes I even have trouble finding the refrigerator.
We had to move the refrigerator again (hopefully for the last time?) so I could paint the expanded and reinstalled cabinets B delivered yesterday.
With luck, once I get the last coat of paint on later today the cabinets will be done, done, done. I've gotten the second coat of poly on the doors already so they will be all set to be hung once the cabinet frames are ready.
I'm getting there! (And I think I'm getting used to working with a refrigerator in the middle of the kitchen.)
You are such a trooper! I'm tired just reading about all your work.

I remember when we redid our kitchen and I had to cook in the laundry room with an electric skillet and a hot plate. It was sort of fun at first especially knowing what you were going to have in the end. However, I think the worse part is when you can almost see the end but you are not quite there. Think that's where you are right now? Oh and I was thinking about the whole pie stealing thing. Do you remember cartoons way back when where someone would steal the pie from the windowsill where it was cooling? That would be right up your alley. Sorry, couldn't resist that memory.
ReplyDeleteLori - I really appreciate your support! Especially today when I didn't have any oompf to paint or poly. But, of course, now that it's done, I'm really, really glad I pushed myself to get on it.
ReplyDeleteSparkless - Thank you, ma'am!
Yvette - I'm gonna love working in it, too. I still haven't had a whole day when I could just be in there and cook and bake up a storm. It's coming though.
Karen L. - Yup, I'm tired of just working on the kitchen. Especially when I know we need to attack the very unfinished living room next. But I keep telling myself it will be so much easier than the kitchen was.
I sure do remember those cartoons featuring a cooling pie on the windowsill. Once I was running late baking a pie to take as dessert to a dinner. It was winter time so I set the baked pie out on the deck railing to cool. I looked out a few minutes later and there was a little chickadee perched on the fluted edge pecking away at the crust for all he was worth. Good thing he didn't call for all his friends to come and help him carry it away!
Looking great! But you know what's sad? We redid our kitchen in March and I STILL don't have my chair rail up! It's stained and finished- it just needs up. You think something that small would get done but it always seems to take the back burner to some other crisis.

Those refrigerators can be a problem! Currently ours is plugged in via an extension cord trailing from the dining room to the kitchen. We really need to get it out of there so we can tear down the wall behind it. Your kitchen posts bring me hope that there really is a light at the end of the remodeling tunnel.

ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous, Mama Pea. When this is all done, you totally deserve a party. :)
ReplyDeleteJudy - I know so well what you're saying. Now that we are so close to finishing the kitchen (and have running water and the ability to actually prepare a meal in there), the tendency is to forget about the last of the details and take care of other "crises" or start on the next part of the remodeling. Why is it so hard to actually f-i-n-i-s-h one thing completely?
ReplyDeleteLeigh - I think you two have actually done a lot more on the remodeling scene than we have. I know someday we will look back on this all and know it was worth it, but it seems to last FOREVER when you're in the midst of it, doesn't it?
judy - I'm a personality that likes to have things neat and orderly so being in an almost constant state of upheaval is hard for me.
How'd the new hair color come out? As long as it's not green or pink, it's okay in my book!
Mama Tea - Rather than a party, could I just have a week at a quiet retreat, please? Right here at home with no sawdust or hammering toxic fumes would do. :o]
Mama Tea - OR toxic fumes is what I meant to say. See? Those fumes ARE getting to me!
ReplyDeleteOoooh is that a fancy new retro toaster in that pic to match your kitchen? Love it!
ReplyDeleteErin - It's a great toaster Chicken Mama gave me for Christmas several years ago. It was smooshed back in a corner where it wasn't very visible. Now that I have this new, bigger counter to the right of the refrigerator, I have it in a much handier spot.
