Ugh . . . Monday

This may not be the most energetic start to the week I've ever had. I feel totally exhausted right now and it's not even 9 a.m. Had to get out of bed for a potty stop at 5 this morning and then knowing the alarm was going off at 6 (we had someone stopping by at 7 to pick something up), do you think I could fall back asleep? Nope. Not until 5:45, that is. Then I didn't regain consciousness until hubby threw that bucket of ice water on me at 6:15 to ascertain if I was dead or just in deep, deep sleep.

Tried a new egg casserole for breakfast this morning. As my sweet husband said, "Well, the bacon was very good. And so was the applesauce." We both ate the portion of casserole I doled out onto our plates, but the remainder went into the chicken bucket.

Now, truthfully, it doesn't LOOK that bad, does it? As they say, win a few, lose a few.

We didn't get snow yesterday, just rain all day. Well, okay, there was that one brief period in the morning when the snow came down in huge, beautiful flakes that kept me glued to the window for several minutes. But then the flakes disappeared and the rain started again. Temp stayed at 34 degrees all. day. long.

This morning a blizzard is forecast for south of us. So far it doesn't look as if it will reach up here near the tundra so we may escape the possible TWO FEET OF SNOW predicted. Now is that a cruel late March joke for the folks south of us or what?

Hubby and I weighed in this morning. I stayed the same. Lost nada, gained nada. He lost three pounds. Do you sense a pattern here?

On with the day. I can do this. I know I can. If someone will . . . just . . . give me a . . . boost to get . . . outta this chair.

  3. Here, too... it's kind of blustery, thunderstorming, and I've gotten nothing done except a much needed phone call to a friend to catch up that ran on for almost 2 hours! Now it seems as if I am just getting started and it's almost noon! You are right, the casserole looks great :) I have to get my butt in gear and go contribute to a certain community radio station that keeps me company all day long, I just love web streaming!

  4. Hubby and I were just discussing how we wish we would have stayed out another week---I can't bear the thought of more snow. Just this morning I heard a very large flock of cranes going over.....I thought they are sure going to regret coming up this far this early. Ah well, spring will get here sooner or later, and then we'll all be so busy we won't be able to think straight.
Also, loved your posts on the strawberries....I think I needed that. Mine got into such a tangle...I let mine runner freely and like your advice to just keep the mother plant. I'll be doing some straighting soon.
Enough of my novel! Have a great day!

  5. I can not fathom that much more snow! You are a real trooper! It's no wonder you are feeling sluggish. Have another cup of coffee and maybe you will feel better! xoxo

  6. I know how you feel. I have not been sleeping that well and had a migraine for the last two days. I feel like I need a 36 hour nap. I am sure that lovely weather of yours is not helping your mood. I think the Pea's need a vacation before the remodel/garden/summer hits. It would do wonders for the soul.

  7. Crazy I know, but I would love more deep snow. I am not ready for winter to leave.

No chickens here to feed flops to - what a great way to be able to ditch something instead of trying so very hard to eat it - again and again. No waste and a win-win situation.

  8. Must be something in the air cause I hardly slept at all last night. The eggs don't look bad at all too bad they didn't taste that way for you.

It's back to rainy here today which is fine with me now that the snow is gone. We have to wash all that dirt and dog poo away somehow.

  9. Rain - Go away! ;o)

Patty - Have you noticed? We are getting a smidge bit of sunshine? (Maybe you didn't recognize it.)

Erin - You'd probably get better reception if you just MOVED up here!

Sue - We just can't figure out what the weather is going to do/be. And, frankly, when techology enables us to control it, I'm checking out!

(Sure wish we could comment on your blog :o( but I understand.)

  10. APG - Can I put any "courage" in the coffee??

So great to have you back for a couple of weeks, Girlfriend! Welcome home!

Jane - The Peas will be taking no vacations until the remodeling is completed and they see if they have any money left over for groceries and toilet paper! (I'm already in a panic about the $$$.)

2 Tramps - Glad you are another (crazy) person who isn't ready for winter to end. You and me, Babe!

I never feel bad about chucking people food (not that I do it much) because the chickens are glad to see just about anything we reject. Worse case scenario, it goes into the compost pile to be returned to the soil.

Sparkless - I know what you mean about once the snow is gone, you just don't want to have MORE of it pile up.

I read that we are all suffering from poor sleep because the moon is currently closer to the earth than it has been in eons. ???
