HAHAHAHA!

Ya wanna hear our current weather forecast?

Rain this morning changing to a rain/snow mix this afternoon. All snow overnight tonight totaling 2 to 4".

Wet, heavy snow will accumulate on tree limbs and power lines so we are to expect sporadic power outages.

(Hmmm. Just exactly how frost-hardy are little arugula, spinach and lettuce plants? We may find out shortly.)

Hahahaha? Boohoohoohoo!

OMG, are you kidding?!!! Wow, Mother Nature sure has a sick sense of humor - are the greens the only thing you have going right now? I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Hi, Erin - I have rhubarb, comfrey, Sweet Grass, California poppies, chives and my bed of dead herbs in the garden besides my greens. A bed each of onions and beets that aren't up yet. And, of course, the raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. The strawberries aren't blossoming yet so no worry there. I'll wait to see how bad the weather really looks later today to decide what I'll cover.

Hey, Fiona - Yup. This is why I've made myself hold back (and it's been hard!) from getting really crazy out there during this early (what WAS warm) spring for us. I've got four cherry tomato plants that have been living in the unfinished greenhouse with no heat at night but they are coming into the house tonight!

Too bad I can't send you some of our weather. We're sunny and in the 80s.

Hey, Leigh - You be in gardenin' territory, girl! Go for it!! Me? I'm chanting the mantra today, "Snow is poor man's fertilizer. Snow is poor man's fertilizer." ;o)

and THAT is why the only thing I've transplanted out of our hoophouse into the garden is...kale!

(I SO sympathize with you, knowing that--even though it's a lovely, breezy 65 degrees today--we could still get hit by a late frost later this month.)

Best of luck to you, and may your garden flourish from all that...fertilizer!

MaineCelt - I remember what an old-timer (expert gardener) told me when we first moved up here 37 years ago. He said he NEVER planted anything outside until the first of June, no matter how warm the spring had been. Probably good words to live by!

Hey, Erin - And we'll take every bit of moisture offered!
