Today it was wonderful! It's amazing how much warmer it feels outside (same temp as yesterday) and how much better one feels when that old sun is shining!

Not much of the organizing and cleaning happened today. Hubby worked all day yesterday installing a new (used one we've had) vented gas furnace in the basement so the place won't freeze into an ice cube if no one is home to feed the wood stoves. So today we had to catch up on all the necessities like filling empty wood boxes, going to Recycling, desk work for him, wrapping presents for me (boy, I'm glad I got 99% of that done!). Hoping to get back at the move ahead tomorrow.Mama Peahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649357184167949247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1423140573667417407.post-68640125094537998952014-12-17T15:17:26.425-06:002014-12-17T15:17:26.425-06:00Mama Pea,

I often tell my husband, "If I'm not up from the basement (or wherever) in 45 minutes, call Search and Rescue." Whenever I'm changing past decorations for the new ones, my husband comments that the house looks so forlorn and empty (it's just the decorations!) that it looks like we're moving. But still, even though I put up lots of snowflakey sparkle in January with blue-themed decorations, nothing can compete with the colors of Christmas/holiday decorations. I've always thought of putting up all white lights here and there in January, but so far haven't done that. That would probably be nice what with the short daylight hours we still have then.Mama Peahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649357184167949247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1423140573667417407.post-18623456371368198892014-12-17T11:28:15.796-06:002014-12-17T11:28:15.796-06:00Ilene Jones - Well, ya know, I purposely chose the...Ilene Jones - Well, ya know, I purposely chose the shades of blue for the shower curtain because once the Christmas decorations come down, I do tend to decorate with blue. (15 years counts as "a little while" at least on a geologic scale. Why, it's barely a blip!) We have an under-the-stairs, semi-open to the laundry room storage area that is starting to spill out and over, and the 'overage' is starting to become a trip hazard. I will notify authorities when I go in, so if I'm not out in a reasonable time they can organize a search-and-rescue party.

We too enjoy our seasonal decorations, and even more so when the NE Indiana weather gives us a looong string of 'gray days' with early, dark evenings.

I am enjoying your blog header photo. Beautiful. I have a ceramic Christmas tree my Grandmother painted (they used to sell ceramics out of their home). It's in my bathroom of all places, waiting for Hubby to look at the light bulb. Over the years of storage at my Mother's, the inside is cracked and the bulb does not stand straight. I'm not even sure I can locate them (it's skinny and tall). It's a pretty good size tree. It would be nice to get it fixed so we can light it up this season. Then I have to figure out where to store it after that.
