December Is Coming On Fast

Thanksgiving Day has come and gone.  The leftover meat from the turkey is boned and frozen to use in a myriad of yummy dishes in the next month or so.

The turkey carcass, skin, bones and l-o-n-g neck have been simmered with vegetables for the past three days, strained and turned into rich broth for the freezer.

My weekend just past was spent packing away all the fall decorations and bringing out the ones that will provide color and cheer for the next month.

What with the shortened hours of daylight, and many hours of darkness, it's the perfect time to make sure the inside of our homes are filled with extra light and glitter.

Even though we have a couple more days in the month of November, December will be here and then exit in the blink of an eye.

Why do I always think the summer months are the busy ones when November, December and January each seem to me to be about ten days long?

No complaining here, though, as I'm more than grateful and appreciative of a full life and all the blessings it contains.

I'm ready to welcome December with open arms!

Twinkly lights in the darkest part of the year do sound appealing; maybe I'll get motivated to put up a Christmas tree yet!

Oh my, you're way ahead of me! Your Christmas decorations look great. And tomorrow is my day for starting on my turkey broth. November went by so fast, I expect December will too.

Michelle - You put up such a BIG tree that I don't know if I'd be up for the time it takes to decorate something of that size! I woke at 4:30 this morning (ugh) and have just walked through the house turning on all the "twinkly lights" and it does make it cozy and welcoming. Come time to take down all the holiday decorations always makes me feel as though I've lost something. Hubby would be happy if I'd leave it all up until February!

Leigh - Didn't November go by super-fast this year?! But then both November and December always do for me. A good lesson in enjoying each day of our lives. I know I need to do a better job of taking in the "here and now." :o)

Very Christmassy looking! Love the little festive things in your book case, and is that mistletoe above the door with the pretty twinkle lights?
I have gone as far as scouting out a tree....And brought in a string of LED lights to string across the front of the verandah, unstrung as of yet.

Rosalea - No, 'tis not a mistletoe ball, but just a round ball made with evergreen boughs and some jingle bells and burlap ribbon! We have never put lights up outside for the season since we can't be seen unless you drive back into our place. But it's the same situation with you, no?

Aw, but they look so pretty from inside, (or outside) shining out on the snow! At present, non-existent snow. Perhaps that is what I need for Christmas motivation!

Rosalea - :o) Of course, you're right. Don't know if I could convince my husband it was worth it to put up outside lights. And then take them down! We had that almost 18" of snow a couple of weeks ago followed by above freezing temps so we lost a bit of it. (Gained some ice in the process though.) :o() Now yesterday and today we're getting some new white stuff. Gotta say the snow cover does really provide Christmas motivation!
