This is another quote from a book by Matt Haig I've been reading. The title is The Comfort Book.
Stuff
You don't always have to do stuff.
Or achieve stuff.
You don't have to spend
your free time productively.
You don't have to be doing Tai Chi
and DIY and bread-making.
Sometimes you can just be and
feel things and get through
and eat chips and survive,
and that is more than enough.
He had me at "eat chips."

Hmmm. I fall into that trap way too much - always feel like I need to be doing something. - Jenn
Jenn - You and be both, girl. I'm beginning to think it's a curse.
I have the hardest time not being productive and doing 'something/anything'. I feel guilty if I am not employed doing some sort of work. lol. xo Diana
NanaDiana - I'd be curious to know if this is a female issue exclusively. I know I'm trying to change it for myself, but having a hard time.
Cab we get some chocolate with them chips!!
One of my favorite Loretta Laroche quotes: "We are human beings, not human doings."
I hate to waste a day without accomplishment of some sort mixed in it. I also don't like to just 'be busy.' Maybe that is a guy thing....
I recently put up another Farm Report. Let me know if it backfires for you this time.
Cheers
Theresa Y - Haha! There seem to be two definite camps: Those of us who prefer the salty, crunchy snacks and those of you who say, "Just give me some chocolate and nobody will get hurt!" ;o)
Tim - I like Ms. Laroche's way of thinking! I also like your sentiment of not just "being busy" :o( which is an easy trap to fall into the way some of us were raised. Reprogramming needed in a lot of cases.
Just left a comment on your last Farm Report. All is well with fingers crossed it stays that way. :o)
Just perfect… I would trade those chips for some parm crisps, or Mac nuts! The message is truly received… sit back and smell the coffee!!! Some porch sittin may be involved it that coffee as well!
wyomingheart - Although at the end of a summer's day, I'm usually pretty tired from all the day's activities and ready for bed, I've made the promise to myself that this summer I'm going to spend time out on the deck after dark taking the time to reflect on the day (and maybe life!) and just look up at the stars! Check back with me 'long about August to see if I've kept my word to myself. ;o)
