. . . why did I have nightmares last night? Oh, well. I'm not going to dwell on it, but rather just chalk it off to these times we're all doing our best to function in and move on. Yep, to move on and try to make the best of each day is the way to go.
And, boy howdy, I did have a good day yesterday.
Look, look! The geranium I brought in from the garden is blooming. It's no secret I've never had much luck bringing in plants and wintering them over inside. Herbs, flowering plants, whatever refuse to be happy and thrive for me. Maybe it's the fact that my daughter (who does have a lot of luck bringing plants in at the end of the growing season) potted up this geranium for me. It's actually starting to bloom!
Just took these loaves of Oatmeal Bread out of the oven. I made one of them (on the left . . . I think) into Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread. As soon as they've cooled enough, we're diving in to the cinnamon one for breakfast.
We finally got some snow overnight. Wahoo! The frames of my raised beds are almost, just about, finally covered.
I worked like a little beaver (a sewing beaver . . . do beavers have opposable thumbs?) yesterday to finish the machine quilting on this couch quilt that has been waiting to be finished for one heckuva long time. I just have a smidge bit to finish on the binding before it goes into the washing machine, then the dryer and will be on the couch tonight. With me snuggled under it while knit-stitching away.
Yep, it was a good day yesterday. Sending wishes we all have a good day today, too! (And no bad dreams tonight, please.)

Well, dang those dreams! I know how it is to wake in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep, even though I never dream. I am never stressed out when I get up, I’m just done sleeping. I do try to get 6 hours every night, and I appreciate when I do...lol. Hope you get a better night!
I hope you have a better night tonight. I've been baking too, but mine was Chocolate Zucchini Bread. Yum.
Dreams and their content/tone make no sense to me. My husband periodically acts out aggressively in his sleep; that's scary and dangerous! Good to see you snuggling in on comfort projects, though.
wyomingheart - I'm frequently awake for periods during the night but don't usually experience "bad dreams." The only thing I can attribute these to are what's going on in our society/economy/etc. Must put mind over matter to work on this!!
Granny Sue - I've already had two glasses of wine tonight (just to make me mellow and relaxed, you know . . . hick!) so hope to get a dreamless night's sleep tonight. I'll think of your Chocolate Zucchini Bread as I fall asleep!
Michelle - Our daughter's ex used to have dreams like your husband's. He even punched the metal wall heater next to the bed once. (Better that than his bed partner!) How's your leg doing, Michelle?
If I should snuggle under that beautiful quilt, I think I would have nothing but good dreams.
Hill Top Post - What a nice thing to say! Thank you.
I'm icing it as I type, Mama Pea. It has colored up spectacularly and is still very tender to touch and jarring (no jumping off the haystack!), but otherwise just fine. Time will tell if I have a permanent lump, but I wasn't planning to wear short shorts ever again anyway. 🤪
I'm happy you had such a good day yesterday! You deserve it.
Michelle - No shorts, no bikinis! You should post another picture of your owie so we can see the beautiful coloring. Injuries like that do tend to leave a permanent lump which I've always thought was scar tissue. But most of the time much smaller than the original swelling which would be very good in your particular instance!
Cockeyed Jo - Thank you! Don't know if I've been a good enough girl to deserve it . . . but I'll take it!
The bread looks delicious. The plant looks so healthy. I use to plant red geraniums and white petunias in big pots in my gardens. It didn't take you long to quilt your quilt. It looks just right to keep the drafts out while your sitting and knitting!! Stay safe !
I usually sleep like a baby except once in awhile! Please post your bread recipes. I've decided to start baking more my main thing is that I have to watch the carbs so I am a have to freeze half as I go along. I've been able to Winter over my geraniums every year but it takes quite a while for them to bounce back once it warms up. But once they do they take off like gangbusters and Bloom like crazy. I keep them out in the garage right next to our furnace and give them a drink about once a month. We're due for some snow tomorrow night fingers crossed. I love the snow and we just haven't gotten much this year so far. I heard they're expecting six or seven feet in the Sierra Nevadas! That is crazy, glad I don't live there
linnellnickerson - I've planted red geraniums and white petunias in a "spare" bed in the garden and the affect is glorious! Regarding the quilting on the quilt, I ended up just doing wavy lines left to right and from top to bottom on the quilt. It was kind of a lazy way out, but that's what I did. :o)
Nancy - I almost always freeze one of the two loaves I bake to pull out of the freezer at a later time. That way, the two of us aren't so tempted to gobble up too many carbs at one time. It's a struggle trying to eat in the healthiest way possible, isn't it? :o\ Hope you get the snow you'd like. The wind we've had since getting our nearly 4" has rearranged it quite a bit!
Your geranium looks so healthy. And the bread...! And your quilt!
Even the snow! But you can keep the snow. I'd rather have the rain.
Tami - You be a true southern gal! ;o)
I am envious of your geranium! I love them, but don't have enough window space here to have any in for the winter. I can taste that cinnamon bread.....! Glad you got some snow. Think we have around 18" now. Another beautiful 'Mama Pea Original' quilt. Pics of the finished project? Sure hope you are having better nights now.
Rosalea - I had one more night of bad dreams after the one last weekend and since then, no more. I sure would like to know exactly what triggered those couple of baddies. Last night I don't remember waking during the night at all (which is unusual) and feel purdy darn good today. (My dear husband might disagree as I think I got on his case about a couple of little grievances this morning. It's just a good thing I'm perfect.) Snort-snort.
