Well, the answers are simple. They've all been hiding away in the box marked (appropriately) "To Be Finished" and I didn't finish them before now because I kept encountering dead ends when trying to figure out the best way to quilt them. (And you know what they say: Quilting makes the quilt!)
This one I'm showing you today had to hang on my design wall for a couple of weeks before inspiration hit.
I've also been slow in getting it completed because I had originally intended it to be a baby quilt, crib quilt size, but when the top was finished it didn't look to me as though it was appropriate for a wee one. And I still think it might be better suited for an adult female who would appreciate a lap quilt to use in the chilly part of the year.
The size is 45-1/2" wide by 49-1/2" long. The quilting I did on it is primarily straight line stitching by machine.
Although, I did put in a little fancy work with these cables running down both sides.
For the backing I used the over-all floral print that is featured on the front.
The floral print was the only fabric I purchased way back when I started making this quilt. All the other coordinating materials were pulled from my stash.

So beautiful! I have finally finished my first quilt and would love to start another but worried it will sit .... the trouble with having a creative mind and spirit but time is limited!! Congratulations on finishing your project.

Welcome, Chy! Yes, it's a struggle (but not a bad one) finding time to fit all the pieces of your life together and coming to the end of a day feeling that it's been a happy, satisfying one. I can't imagine having a day (or hour!) being bored or not having something to do that I want to do. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

The Quilt is lovely. Such a great job. I have a triple Irish Chain quilt top that needs to be put together and quilted. Hopefully some day I'll get it done. Sometimes I like to make the tops. I have two or three of them that need to be put together and quilted. I like the way you quilted your quilt. xo
Lynne - Thanks, Lynne. My "problem" is that my favorite part of the quilting process is the piecing. After that, I have to work to convince myself that I will really love an article when it's all done. And I do. It's just getting from here to there! I always say that the actual quilting is my least favorite part, but when I actually get into it . . . well, I do find it satisfying. I've often said my ideal situation would be to have a daughter or sister or good friend who wanted to work with me and liked to do the quilting best. Then I could piece to my heart's content and she could take it from there. Whadda team we would make!
I agree Mama Pea. It is lovely but most certainly better suited for a young girl (thinking mid teens up to geriatric) than a baby girl. Just feels mature make any sense? It is beautiful and the quilting enhances it.

Leah - Thank you! Wonder what makes us get frustrated with a project when we were SO enthusiastic about it when we started it?! Most everything gets finished sooner or later though. Most everything. ;o]
That is beautiful! I'm so glad you finished it. I have a quilt top I need to finish too. I need to bind it, but I have never done that before, so I keep putting off learning. I would like to get it done; thanks for the reminder!
Dianna - If we lived close I would be more than happy to have you over some afternoon and show you the tricks of easily putting a binding on your quilt. Very easy once you know how. You should be able to find a how-to video on the Internet or find a good quilting book at the library with illustrations of the proess. Good luck and I am confidant you can do it!
If you're like me you run out of supplies so I have to wait until it arrives so I can finish. Meanwhile, I start something else! LOL! that's why I end up with so many WIPs! I love your fabrics you used...lovely, lovely quilt and your cable quilting is striking! Good job!
