This quilt was designed-as-I-went without much of a thought-out plan and, as you can see, it ended up being quite colorful. And a little busy. (Understatement?) The finished size is 36" x 42".
I purchased the pretty pastel backing fabric with the intention of using it for the back of a baby quilt someday. Many moons ago (many), I pulled different coordinating fabrics from my stash to use in the design on the front. I just didn't mean for it to turn out quite so
There was so much going on in the quilt that it took me a while of head scratching, if not hair pulling, to decide how to quilt it without getting too complicated which might cause me to have to invest the next month and a half in doing so.
I'd always had the thought I'd like to try covering a whole quilt with wavy lines as I'd seen done on some quilts in magazines and books. And an abbreviated form of that is what I went ahead and did for this one.
All in all, I'm pleased with the way it turned out, and I have a real sense of accomplishment (whew) knowing another unfinished project is now finished!

Oh top of all the other quilting work, you gave it wavy lines!!! So-much-work!
'Course, I don't have any idea, about quilt making, so _everything_ about it, looks like TOOO much work, to me. -grin-
It's lovely. And why not stimulate babies with bright colors? *Naughty* daughter. >,-)

wisps of words - Keep the comments and sunflowers coming!
I didn't plant my beloved sunflowers this year because of lack of space and, oh, how I miss them! So yours are doubly appreciated!
Wow, that is a pretty quilt! I really like the color combinations.
I use to plant sunflowers every year. Then we had an explosion of squirrels move into our neighborhood. They went after the seeds as soon as they appeared. Made an awful mess. So no more sunflowers.
We live in a residential area and this year everyone on the street is having a terrible time with rabbits. They are not touching the veggies but are going after every flower that blooms. Even marigolds! Stripping them down to the stem, no leaves left. Very frustrating for all of us :(
Elizabeth - Thank you! I liked the color combinations myself because I tend toward bright colors in whatever I create.
Those darn squirrels can really, really be a nuisance, that's for sure. And destructive. Also the rabbits you're having such a time with. I know all creatures have to eat to live, but sometimes I don't feel like sharing my hard work with them!
I love the colors! The quilt is gorgeous. Some lucky baby is going to be very blessed with this gift.
The quilt is lovely. The baby who gets it will love it with all it's great colors. Very stimulating for babies. Great job!
De - Thank you so much! Good to hear from you and I hope all is well with you and your (missed) blogging husband!
Lynne - Awww, so nice of you to say. When I make a baby quilt, I do visualize it covering a baby, maybe in a car seat or crib, and the little one looking at the different colors.
It's beautiful!
Thanks, Kristina!
Love everything about this project--especially the scallopy wavy pieces.
You have a lot of talent......and patience!
Hope you're having a good summer.
It's a darling quilt and I agree....babies like bright colors or so I've heard. I think it's darling and great work on the quilting part too!
