I Think It's Going To Be An Early Spring

How's that for sticking my neck out?  (I may wrap a scarf around my neck just in case.)

Not only have we not had our usual heavy March snowfalls (I know, the month's not over yet . . . where's that scarf?), but Mother Nature has blessed us for much of the month with temperatures above freezing and, wonder of all wonders, sunshine.

This is a shot of our driveway I posted on March 3rd.

This is what it looked like this morning when we walked out to get the mail.

Yesterday our temperature actually hit 55 degrees.  Fifty-five degrees!  Oh, my.  This morning upon our awakening it had dropped back down to 29 and the high for today won't get out of the 30s.  Now, just after noon, we have 34 degrees but we'll still get some melting at that.

The coming week's forecast is for highs in the 40s and sunshine.  More melting!  No s-word is mentioned so we may make it through the last week of the month with no new snow covering.

Not exactly ready for planting (!), but my raised beds are emerging from their winter's blanket.

So.  A whole blog post about weather.  Boring?  Yeah, possibly.  But if these current conditions continue, we're going to have an unusual and very early spring.

Inside, my winter decorations throughout the house are beginning to irritate me.  Haven't quite worked up the nerve to take them down and replace them with the spring decorations.  That might be tempting Old Man Winter a titch too much.  How 'bout if I wait until April 1st to make the switch?  Oh, wait.  That's also April Fool's Day.  Arrrrgh.

WHERE is spring I ask ya???? :)
I think we need to find "in betweens" when it comes to seasonal decorations Mama Pea. I took down my little snowy decorations in February because I was sick of seeing them...but not yet ready for spring decor...I need to figure this out! :)

The answer here is "no seasonal decorations," except for minimal Christmas; ha! We had 5-6 weeks of below normal temps, only to be followed by two weeks of above normal temps. Now I'm building a fire in the wood-burner because it's cool and damp outside and the house is chilly – especially because I'm mostly sitting around with a case of vertigo. :-/

Rain - By the record amounts of snowfall you've been getting (two feet over night again?!), you may not see spring time by you until mid-July! I hope it's all melted before time for you to move!

Michelle - You just may be a lot wiser regarding your decorating than I am!

What's with the vertigo?? And you had sooooo much planned to get done this week. Maybe your body is telling you you HAVE to rest and take it easy? (Keep in mind, this could be a case of the pot calling the kettle black. :o\ )

Well at least no blizzards!

Nancy - For sure! Since we usually get our most inches of snowfall in the month of March, this does seem strange. And we haven't even had more than one or two of those nasty sessions of ice/sleet/snow/snail this winter that can be so dangerous if one has to be out on the road. So "at least no blizzards" is a much spoken phrase around here these days!

Weather is never boring when it's a major influence in one's life! You must be thrilled with the lovely weather you're having. Have to appreciate it while it lasts (no matter which way it goes.)

Very best luck, to you!!!!!!!

Here, the Full Moon Effect is still around. And take a look at Heather's weather/power conditions, this morning.... -sigh-

Best of luck to you, with your personal forecast!!!!!!!!! :-)

Leigh - You speak the truth! When weather is an influence in your life, you pay attention!

Cockeyed Jo - Maybe I shouldn't say this out loud, but our melting is taking place in such a way this year that so far . . . the mud has been at a minimum. Could this be???

wisps of words - I've been amazed at how "light and bright" the moon has been these past several nights even though we're past the actual full moon phase. Haven't noticed this to this extent with other full moons. Hmmmm . . .

Our Spring has been early this year, and now we are over half way through it, with all the cherry and plum blossoms in full array at the moment, and yet we are still having very heavy overnight frosts although the days are warm. It feels strange, this weather!

Oh, how beautiful those cherry and plum blossoms must be! But are the heavy overnight frosts harming them? I do so hope that's not the case. You certainly have an earlier spring than we do here. Enjoy the warm days and soak up the sun!
