The rug first.
A few days ago I finished another crocheted rug made with fabric strips. Finished size is 20" x 30".
Love the vibrant colors of this rug. I think it says "summer" but my daughter thinks it looks like St. Patrick's Day. (We may both be right.)
A couple of the fabrics I used were from two voluminous muu-muu type dresses that had belonged to a woman who passed away a couple of years ago. The person in charge of sorting out her household belongings thought I might be able to use the fabric from the dresses and passed them on to me. I was glad to have the fabric and immediately knew I'd use them in a rug.
And the socks.
Slow as I am at knitting socks (it seems so anyway), I finished this pair last night. Colorful enough for you? I love the colors. The yarn is Berroco Sox, 75% Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon. Good stuff.

In poultry yard news, a couple of days ago we decided to let one determined Muscovy hen sit on some eggs she was diligently amassing in a nest in a secluded corner of one of the poultry buildings. However, the past few days have been so very cold (it's -2 as I write this morning) that we're wondering if the eggs won't be harmed even in the short periods she leaves the nest a couple of times a day for a quick waddle in the fresh air and food and water. Depending on what the temperature does in the next few days and how often we see her off the nest (or not), we'll have to make a decision as to whether it's too early to let her try to hatch out the eggs. It may be coming up on the middle of March, but it's not spring yet up here near the tundra.

I love the rug and the socks. Have you ever posted the rug pattern or directions? I have always wanted to do this but somehow never got around to actually research and do it.
We are in a cold front now after 80° last week. Maybe 2 inches of snow with the hard freeze. Such is weather in the Ozarks.

It must drive you crazy the way your 80 degree weather and than a return to a hard freeze messes with your plantings!

The rug is gorgeous!! I agree with your daughter though, St-Patty-like! :) It does remind me of spring though! Interesting about the duck eggs...I'm guessing if it's too cold the little ones will have too hard a time?
Suz in Ohio - Thank you! I'm kind of addicted to making them. When I can find the right fabric I want, next is to make matching ones for either side of our bed.
Thanks, Rain. I just came back in from afternoon chores and it's not looking good for the duck eggs. Second time today potential Mama Duck hasn't been on the nest. And it's still really cold out. Muscovy eggs incubate for 35 days so IF she did manage to hatch some out, it would be toward the last part of April . . . and the weather could be decent by then . . . or not. I think it's too early to think about letting little ones hatch. But that's just my opinion.
I love the rug, and the socks. So pretty. I have old sheets just begging me to rip them up for a rug.

Beautiful rug!!! I need to make one for my new kitchen. The homeowners before had this amazing large rag rug in the kitchen, it matched the kitchen colors. They didn't want to sell,so now I need to make one or buy one.
It's suppose to warm up this weekend, I'll send you some warmth :-)
Sandy - Darn! Pity the previous owners didn't leave the rug with the house. That would really be a big job to make such a large one!
We'll be waiting for that warm air from Oklahoma!
