Beautiful Sunshine

Who cares if the temperature is still below zero at 10 a.m.?  Seeing that wonderful sunshine streaming in through the windows helps the energy level and chirks up the spirit!

We got our biggest snowfall of the season this past Tuesday into early Wednesday.  A whole, big, whopping 5-6".  So, so different than last year.  Apparently Mama Nature gets a big kick out of keeping us guessing.

As so often follows a good snowfall, our temperatures have plummeted.  I was planning on a trip to town yesterday but since the wind was ferocious, whipping trees back and forth and moving snow on the ground into new (inconveniently placed) drifts and the wind chill advisory was severe, I wimped out and stayed home.  Today since the wind has abated, I'm going to gird my loins (and don several layers of down) and get out there in the sunshine.  It will be good to feel the sun on the limited amount of my skin that will be exposed.

Even the tiniest ray of sunshine can really make a difference, can't it? I guess all this winter stuff makes us tuffer. For what, I am not sure....next winter? Be careful out there!

'Love all the big windows in our house to let all the sunny light in! It's good for the soul and for savings on wood and LP heat! Whoever built this house knew what they were doing and where they lived! We are grateful!-M

Susan - Hey, if we weren't already "tuff," we would have moved to Arizona or Florida long ago! You know what I always think of in winter? How in the world did the native American Indians that occupied areas such as ours ever survive through the winters?

Dear M - :o) :o) :o) :o) Hee-hee! Big grin, big grin!

Those windows look so nice with that sunshine streaming in. I just went outside and had to cover every inch of me. Brrr. We too have whipping winds and cold temps.

Kristina - What you can't see in the picture is how dirty the outside of the windows are! I'm surprised the sun could even make it through.

We made it up to 3 degrees above zero today. When I went to town, I felt like the Pillsbury Dough Boy as bundled up as I was. Fortunately most everyone else looked about the same. (There's no way anyone looks good in a bomber hat!) One person I talked to said it's even hard to recognize people in this weather 'cause they're so covered up.

A sunshiny winter day is a wonderful thing, no matter how cold it is! We sometimes have of many solid weeks of heavy overcast during during the winter, and never seeing the sun kind of wears on you after awhile. Seeing that sunshine really brightens my mood and spirits even if it is bitter cold.

That wind was hard to take. I had tears streaming down my face just doing chores. The sun looks so cheerful on your walls - great color.

Mama Pea,

I'm still sitting inside with warm PJ's on debating on getting dressed and layered for outside. The wind is just causing havoc outside. At least the sun is shinning, maybe getting outside will make me feel better and motivated.............no motivation right now!!!!
Dress warm, and don't work to hard outside today.

Mark - We've had waaay too many gray, sunless days this winter so seeing the sun yesterday was a real picker-upper. I think we don't realize how good sunlight is for us all . . . until we don't have it! (Isn't that the way with so much?!)

Thanks, tpals! Yes, I had the ol' tears streaming down my face a couple of times yesterday, too. No fun!

Sandy - Outta those jammies yet? ;o) Since lunch I've been yawning and feeling like I need a nap! No sun here today again. But I have to work up enough ooompf to get some heart sugar cookies baked and frosted for tomorrow! At least I'm not working outside today . . . brrr!

I feel so bad for everyone back your way in this crazy weather. It is 1:30 in the afternoon here and I have been outside working in crop pants and a short sleeve shirt - it is 63 degrees already. Not good for us - we should be having snow here, too. It looks to be a bad fire season coming up for us with very little snowpack in the mountains.

Nice shot, and I love the snowman quilt!

2 Tramps - That's the problem with our skimpy snow this winter . . . if we don't get a bunch more, we'll go into spring with the threat of forest fire, too. For both of us, let's hope we do get more (adequate) snowfall yet!

Nancy po - Thank you! The snowman wall hanging is one I did in flannels for hubby's classroom. I like it enough that thought it would be good hung in the kitchen under the clock this time of year.

That is the most beautiful photograph of your beautiful sunshine! Great shot! We had the wind too and thought we were gonna be blown away! At times it was hurricane force. We live in the mountains. Weird.
