Did we finish up the job today? Nope. Golly-gosh, I hope at the end of our third day at the task we will be done.
One big box that I sorted through today held decorations that my now-retired teacher husband used in his third grade classroom.
So how 'bout it? Wouldn't one of you like to give this smiley scarecrow guy (he measures about 20" from tip to toe when seated) a new home? I'm offering him as a giveaway on this post. If you'd like him to travel from northern Minnesota to anywhere (Your home? Your classroom? Your child's room?) in the U.S., just say so in the comments section of this blog post and I'll enter your name in the hat for "adopting" him. I'll end the entries when I shut off my computer this coming Friday night, October 17th, and post the name of the winner sometime Saturday.
I found some decorations for Valentine's Day and also for Easter, but I'll wait to post those as a giveaway closer to those holidays.
If I can find them in the storage shed then.
(Heck, no worry. Everything will be so organized when we finish this undertaking that I'll know just exactly where everything is!

Oh he is adorable! And I am sure he would love moving to a warmer climate here in Ga! Angela
Mama Pea,
He's adorable, I know someone out there could use him.
I have all kinds of items to go through stored in the garage.
Good for you! Isn't the feeling of getting rid of things great? We too have a shed full of stuff. Some day...
I know what you mean. I am finding things I forgot I even had. Saving them for what? Hubby is glad I am getting rid of some things, and getting organized again. Cute scarecrow, but I would not have anywhere to display him.
I have so much junk - er, treasure - to go through. My problem is that I waffle way too much. I am slowly, but surely tackling my craft/knitting/sewing/office. It's not pretty.
Angela - I told the scarecrow he had a chance to go to Georgia and he was delighted thinking maybe he would have work all year 'round there. ;o}
Sandy - Just HOW do we manage to accumulate all this stuff?!
J Yale - Yes, yes, yes, I really do like thinning things out. Sometimes it takes the pressure off just knowing I don't have to think about using that HUGE box of pinecones sometime in the future!
Kristina - My hubby is the "saver" of the two of us, but I've been a little embarrassed to find as much of my stuff squirreled away in the storage shed as I have. Out, out, OUT it goes!
(I won't enter your name in the drawing.)
Susan - Ah, but it will be "pretty" once you're completely through everything. (Either that or you'll have to delegate another room in your house for what's left!)
We have been going through our house, shed, and barn as well. Boy does it take a long time! And wow how did we ever get so much stuff!! It seems like they multiply in the storage areas don't they? You put it away and when you come back somehow you have more then before! I think it's gremlins honestly! Haha, but good luck on sorting! I hate that job but boy does it feel good when it's done!
Since I am going through our own stuff with a heavy hand, I'll turn down the scarecrow but thank you once again for my pot holders. I smile and think of you every time I use them.
Leah - Our cleaning and sorting has made me say to my husband (more than once), "We could NEVER move!" Just thinking of physically moving all the stuff is more than I can imagine. I'm actually eager to get back to the last day (I hope) of working on the storage shed. But we've got a rain day today so I'll have to find something else to do. HAHAHEEHEEHOHOHO!
Ruth - Aw, you're so sweet to say that about my potholders! I will give you credit for having willpower in sorting through your own stuff "with a heavy hand!" That's what it takes to get the job done.
I did the ruthless thing when I moved to The Farm late last year, my suburban decorations don't quite go out here. Would love a real old fashioned scarecrow and he could have the place of honor on my big covered front porch. Love the blog. Jan in NWGA
I'd love him for my school library :)
Jan, Not near Rome are you? Angela
: )
Jan - Thank you! Your name is in the hat . . . the scarecrow's hat!
Nancy po - You're in the drawing!
Would that be quilting??! ;-)
