My spring shower curtain project is progressing.
One appliqued "flower" panel is done, and I'm working on the second one. There are four of them in total.
The flower panels are fun to do because I can see the progress in a very definite way as I go along.
I find myself wanting to do the applique work by hand instead of by machine ('cause I MUCH prefer the way it looks) but know it would take for-EVAH. That's fine for a nice piece that will be enjoyed and taken care of for a long time, but my shower curtains get washed at the end of each seasonal period of use. Plus, the bathroom window (facing south) is at right angles smack next to the shower stall in our small bathroom and all of my shower curtains get faded . . . which means I feel the need to replace them every few years.
Lots on my list for today, but with luck I'll get to spend at least some time in my quilt room. At least no snow to shovel and/or remove in the last week. Just continued cold weather and even some bright sunshine now and then. Old Sol is definitely getting higher in the sky. Life is good!

Mama Pea,
I love this flower shower curtain you're making, its gorgeous.
Absolutely beautiful. I love this idea of a quilted shower curtain & will definitely put it on my to do list!
What a bright, lovely design! I hate to admit that I have a plain vanilla shower curtain with no personality whatsoever.
Beautiful! I think it's too pretty to use as a shower curtain. But then I guess it brightens up the bathroom and gives you something nice to look at while you are on the throne.
Sandy - Thanks!
DFW - I stole the idea from a friend many years ago!
Susan - Possibly no personality . . . but it "goes" with everything!
Sparkless - Exactly! Because in our little bathroom, the . . . um . . . uh . . . "throne" is directly across from the shower stall. Like, I can touch it from there!
I am so in awe of your sewing/quilting skills. That is on my list for next winter's learning, but I doubt I will ever be as good as you! Just gorgeous!

Stephanie - I was fortunate to have an excellent sewing teacher in school. It was in 8th grade and we girls didn't have a choice of sewing as an elective . . . it was mandatory! But that was fine as I really wanted to learn to sew. Miss Brown was a stickler for "doing it right" and drilled basics into us. Tough for the girls who had no interest in sewing, but a great start for me! If you can find someone who sews to give you pointers and tricks of the trade, it will come much easier to you. With your will to learn, I know you'll do it!
That is nice! Do you recycle your faded ones into anything?
Kristina - You know, I've been thinking about that very same thing lately. I've just been folding them up and putting them in a drawer in our storage area. I know some folks have taken old quilts and made pillows out of them (maybe potholders?) but so far I haven't had the urge to do such with them. I've even thought of making dog bed covers for our "granddog" or our own next dog in our future. I don't consider them to still be nice enough to make into actual quilts . . . although I could do that and take them to our local recycling center shop. Maybe someone would be glad to have a warm quilt even though faded. Hmmmm, have to think more on that.
That curtain is lovely. You have an eye for combining the fabrics.
The sun is actually melting snow on the south side of the barn. The temps aren't as intimidating when the sun is helping out.
odiie - Thank you! We've been noticing that the sun is now high enough to be doing a little bit of good. On our plowed driveway and back parking area, there are actually patches that have melted enough that we can see gravel. That sun does make it seem warmer than a gray, no sun day!
anything in the way of of vine in my book, says a lot ,one of these days I will send you a picture of the cherry tree in blossom applique I did on my walls, I found useful hat type square boxes at Big Lots to match ,they sure come in handy trying to hind all the stuff that make it look like a hospital room,my son Dan, found 4 shelving units (free ) I redid ,brought then in,got baskets from Dollar Tree, more disguise
only ladyinredenergy@yahoo.com--don't laugh ,it was all that was available-HA but at least believable ,the color red give you energy-/you could send it to Jerry but he doesn't go there ,its only for business purposes/his is jshockleyky50@yahoo.com-i am the only one who sees his ,and thank you for responding to a silly old lady
Love!!! You are inspiring us to make our shower curtains too! I've got plans to (finish) re-do(ing) our 2nd bath - and methinks a custom shower curtain needs to be added to the 'to do' list. You do have a talent for combining colors and designs. This is truly beautiful.
PS btw, did you send some of your Minnesota snow to SC? We're expecting 6+" in the next 2 days - unheard of 'round here. Have a good day Mama Pea! Hope you're working on your shower curtain!
Shower curtain! What a brilliant idea. I really need to get back into the handwork groove and make me some.
judy - Sounds like you've done a lot to make a cheery atmosphere . . . and that counts for a lot. A person's environment needs to be pretty and pleasing, I thinking!
judy - I'll resend my note . . . and cross my fingers it gets through this time. One never knows what goes on in the deep recesses of the Internet!
Lisa - Hasn't the weather this winter been absolutely CRAZY? I find it hard to believe how far south the snow has been falling. Get ready for a couple/few days of being snowbound if you really do get your predicted snow! Enjoy it 'cause it probably (you all hope!) won't last too long.
Leigh - I wish you could find time for some of your handwork, Leigh. But I know that will come in time. Meanwhile, you and Dan keep getting lots and lots done on the infrastructure of your place. That's important, too.
