Here it is before I put it up in the bathroom. All of my pictures today, I'm sorry to say, are off color-wise. All the background fabrics are shades of beige rather than the gray/white that shows in the photos. It was just one of those days where I couldn't get a good picture for beans. On the flannel wall above in my quilt room, there's too much glare from the fluorescent lights on the ceiling. In this room there is only one window and it's on the north side. On a gray day as we're having today, trying to get a picture with the ceiling lights off was a no-go.
A closer look at some of the parts of the quilt . . . this is the fabric I used in one row of the trees.
And another tree fabric. I machine quilted the whole piece and was happy with the end product.
I did cross-hatching through these border sections.
Installed in the bathroom! As you can see, our bathroom is on the narrow side so this is the best full length shot I could get.
I tried another angle by smooshing myself against the wall opposite the shower and next to the toilet but couldn't begin to get all of the curtain in the frame.
Whew. This project has been a long time in the making. I'm glad I finally pushed and got it up for the holidays. Besides that, it was great spending the majority of the day in my quilt room . . . my definition of a super-duper day.

Heather - I've had folks question my sanity but I have seasonal quilted shower curtains for all through the year. Previous to making them, I had an all white shower curtain and my daughter always complained that it looked too "institutional" so I decided to get rid of it and add colorful ones.

A quilted shower curtain? Brilliant! Now, if we ever get the bedroom done and I can put stuff away, and find my fabrics, I may have to start on a project like this. (Notice I'm only saying start).
And about colors, I find greens the hardest to get right when it comes to digital cameras and computers.
Just curious how you finish off your shower curtain - do you use batting? And how do you create the holes for the rings at the top - buttonholes?

LindaCO - My hubby just came out of the bathroom and paid me a complement . . . he said my new shower curtain would sell for $500 in a high-end boutique. I told him that wouldn't pay me for the hours I had in it!

Sometimes the colors in pictures I take come out so true . . . and other times it drives me crazy trying to get something that resembles the actual article. I think what you say about greens is true!
Jen - I've only tried making one shower curtain with batting in it. I used Thermore and even that made the curtain too heavy. Now I just sandwich the top with muslin for the backing (no batting at all) and quilt the two together. I was afraid it might not hang well, but that's not a problem at all. Yes, I make very small buttonholes to receive the rings on the shower rod.
Kristina - Thank you so very much! I love our little bathroom, too. I didn't have a lot of space to give to it, but managed to design it to within an inch of its square footage! There's a lot in there.

Susan - The one thing our small bathroom lacks is a tub. I never, ever, ever use a tub but hubby would like to have one to soak in some nights after physical labor. Maybe someday we can redo the bathroom. It's actually a possibility now that I have my big, heavy duty washer out in the garage/shop area. We have a stackable washer and dryer in the bathroom (I still use the dryer in there) that could come out and make room for a tub/shower.
I love it... if you ever need to de-clutter remember me ;]` I need to make time to get back to my room and create something.
Lisa - 'Tis a tough time of year to find time for our creative souls! You do SO much on a daily basis, I don't know how you ever find time for yourself or things you want to do.
I hear you. If hours plus materials (and skills) were taken into account, I think a lot of handmade stuff would be out of reach price-wise. Always nice to hear compliments!
