I have to confess that I'm suffering a smidge bit of depression looking at all your lovely pictures of green grass, spring flowers and gardens taking shape.
No early spring here for us in northern Minnesota this year, that's for sure.
It's still very cool, only getting into the 40s during the day, and our lack of sunshine for almost the whole past week isn't helping warm up the soil. Or dry up our many standing puddles. (We will just avoid mentioning piles of snow still in evidence.)
I have seedlings of cold weather crops that could go out under cold frames, but first I'll have to put the cold frames over the raised beds to warm up the soil enough so my little green sprouts don't suffer hypothermia and die when set out.
I've never started lettuce, spinach, chard, arugula and such inside before, but this year something told me to do so. (It could definitely have been the increased cost of seeds [and many less seeds in each packet!] and realizing I couldn't sprinkle them as liberally as I usually do directly into the garden beds and then thin, thin, thin.)
Our forecast for this coming week does hold promise of warmer temperatures (60s even!) . . . but also more rain.
I know one of these days, it will turn warm and stay that way and then . . . let the gardening begin!

So sorry your Spring is late...NC has had a real nice one and just right for planting and putting our pine straw.
I know what you mean about a bit of depression...me too in winter and ours are not like yours at all!!

Want me to send you my long hot summer .... although today is cloudy with chance of sprinkles, sprinkles won't do any good, only make temps cooler. Chance of lightning ... not good, already too many fires in CA.
I'm having Monday Morning Mope for a different reason, work! Go do some quilting and you will feel better in no time.
I'm having a bit of a mope too...it's still raining !!! They promised it would stop last night and it didn't. It is supposed to get up to 70. It is still grey and dreary and wet, and frankly, I've had about ENOUGH !
I have seedlings that need to be in the dirt and I have a chicken run that is so nasty muddy sloppy you can barely walk in there to open the door for them in the morning without falling on your big fat keister. Sigh...
Okay. At least we don't have any snow. Thanks for pointing that out.

Tombstone Livestock - Thanks, but no thanks. You have to be really tough to endure the spring/summer/fall hot, hot weather you do. And that's not saying anything about the dryness! We've been way too close to forest fires in our area (not this year, thankfully) not to feel your angst about lightning when you're so dry. Fingers crossed you get the sprinkles, but no lightning.
The Weekend Homesteader - Yes, yours is a different and worse kind of Monday Morning Mope! Too much on the fire for today for me to make it into my quilt room though. Gonna put on my mud boots and get some stuff done outside . . . although I may freeze my beezer doing it!!
Akannie - Oh, gosh, you have really had the rain. Too much rain! Why is it that the chickens' area can get so awful, bad, yucky, mucky, stinky, sloppy?? We've been spreading straw around our birds' area like crazy. Hubby just changed the electric fencing this morning so they have more area (to muck up!).
I really really hope it warms up for you. I'll be wishing, come July, that you could send some cool air down to us.
We had to turn an a/c on yesterday because it was so hot upstairs the kids were roasting. I know you didn't want to hear that but I could have been very happy with a late spring. I'm more a cold weather gal.
You know that since you can't get out and garden that this gives you time to get into your quilting room. Or read or do other things that you enjoy. This is nature's way of giving you a bit of a break before spring hits and all h*ll breaks loose~!
Sorry you've got the mopes. After a weekend stuck inside (rain) I often forget that I've still got it good. Even if my yard is green, there's still plenty of mud to go around...

We had some unseasonably cold rainy/sleet weather over the weekend, so we are still trudging through gunky mud. It is a bummer when the weather stays icky for weeks.

So, no, I'm not going to rub it in. However, it can drive you right to drink when you have an 80-degree day that makes you want to go out like Johnny Appleseed and plant your head off -- then you wake up in the morning and it's 32. Mimosa, Mama Pea?
DFW - Methinks none of us should whine about our weather as each of us has their own little less than pleasant whatever to deal with. Too cold? Too hot? Too dry? Too wet? Can you imagine if we all had it juuuuust right?!
Sparkless - Yupper, I am taking advantage of having a little "extra" time for inside stuff. Our warm weather WILL come. It just sometimes doesn't happen when we think it SHOULD!
Tami - I didn't mean to sound so grumpy. We DO have it good! We are where we want to be located and that counts for a lot no matter what. The folks who don't have it so good are the ones who want desperately to move to another location . . . and can't!
Kelly - I second your "warm weather wishes for us all!" Even for those of you have it too hot already! A little "warm" would feel good, right?

You'll notice I am not posting---what an endless winter. We got warm this week and we went from white to brown to green---in the span of one week. I hope I get a "little" spring sometime........
But, we can rejoice in the summer when we are in the 70's and all those early spring folks are baking in the 90's.
Oh Mama Pea - try to cheer up a little. Think positive thoughts! I know how you feel but it won't be much longer now, I promise. I'm not that much farther south and I planted peas today and we're eating lettuce out of the cold frame - so it's coming!!! I do not envy your weather but I do envy your seclusion up there - what a blessing!
Sue - Nope, I wouldn't trade our long winters (ugh) or non-springs (ugh) for the dear folk who have 90s and 100s for four months of the year. I would melt into a sweaty (I mean glistening) puddle in no time at all. Just can't handle it.
Yes, I have noticed you're not posting. Get with it, Girl. Take pictures of your snowbanks if you have to. I do. ;o)
Freedom Acres Farm - I WAS thinking positive thoughts yesterday morning. I was positive I needed to get out into the garden and see something (anything!) growing! Hee-hee. And I did!
Seclusion or isolation . . . these days it's not a bad thing!
