My dear daughter has been patiently helping me whenever she has the time, but I suspect she goes home and has a strong drink or two immediately after trying to teach this
I think I must have a strong aptitude for something, but it is positively for nothing having to do with computers. I am totally inept at understanding the jargon and/or operation. Strange warnings keep popping up on the screen threatening dire consequences if I fail to click the proper command. I have this vivid picture in my mind of making the wrong choice which will trigger a very loud explosion in the new computer accompanied by smoke leaking out of all sides of the monitor.
I finally learned tonight (well, maybe) how to download (or is it upload . . . see what I mean?) pictures from my camera into the computer. If I can successfully manage it, I'll post them tomorrow morning.
I truly am grateful that we were able to swing getting a new computer for both Papa Pea and me, but so far I'm not lovin' this new one. However, nobody ever said I wasn't stubborn so give me six months or so and I may feel comfortable with it.
Or not.

I am always asking my daughter and husband for help. So your not a lone.
Computers...it's a love hate thing! ;)
Hang in there, Mama Pea - after six months (or more) you'll love your new computer!
If it is with Windows 8, it's no wonder. My parents just bought a new laptop because theirs crashed beyond repair, and they are having issues too. I haven't heard much good about it.
You're not alone. I can do the few things I know how to do and that's it! Before long, you'll be a pro (at what matters to you). You can do it!
Ugh, changing from one system to another is always so frustrating! All the new updates are can be so confusing. Thank goodness the delete button still works the same!
Every time any of the computer companies change something to make it easier - they DON'T ... I'm too stubborn to give in, but I say some not nice words while I'm learning.
Is there not a Birthday going on today??? Have a very Happy Day with lots of presents and hugs.
Yvette
I agree with Stephanie. Windows 8 is a bugger. And yes, I too hate to change. My husband is trying to talk me into a new one because he wants the old one for his shop. Dreading it big time!
Michelle - When your kids were toddlers, did you ever imagine you'd be asking them for help with all this technological stuff?
Patty - I don't mean to sound negative, but just now it's more of a hate thing for me!
Susan - Is that a promise?
Stephanie - We were advised against Windows 8 because it is so new and has so many bugs to be worked out. We've got Windows 7 and that's more than enough for me to handle!
I'll Call You Jane - Thanks for the encouragement. I think the main problem I'm encountering is that there is just SO MUCH more than I'm used to seeing and having to figure out on this new unit. I know I won't actually use 85% of it.
Katidids - Would you believe it took me a while to find the delete button?
Yvette - I think they purposely make the new models more complicated so it looks like it's "better." BAH, I say. BAH!
You're a sneaky little one to remember my birt-day. Thank you for the wishes!
Good to hear from you!
DFW - As a person who does NOT like change anyway, dealing with a change that is beyond my capabilities makes for heavy frustration! (Glad we didn't go with Windows 8 anyway!)
