Go ahead and laugh, Erin. Now that I'm over the shock, it really is funny.
This morning I read a comment Erin left on my daughter's blog making reference to a cake recipe she got from one of my blog posts.
At the time I was still undecided as to what dessert I should make for a dinner tonight. Erin mentioning my Almond-Cranberry Cake reminded me that I hadn't made it in a long time.
Problem solved. I'd make that for dessert.
Uh . . . I encountered a little difficulty turning the cake out of the pan and onto the cooling rack.
When I tried to flip it, the cake went one way, the rack went the other. Fortunately, the cake landed on the counter. Above it's resurrected (that's questionable) and on the cooling rack.
I'm a very neat cook and believe in cleaning up my messes. Mmmm, num-num-num!

I think it looks horrible. You should just pack it up and ship it right to me so I can eat it, I mean, put it out of it's misery.

As long as you are not having the Queen for dinner, this cake will work just fine. After all, it's really how it tastes that is important in the end. Wouldn't you rather have a .... um, slightly disheveled cake that tastes good rather than a beautiful one that taste yucky? You betcha!!! Oh and does this cake ever look good! Just my kind of cake. I'd better go get that recipe before I forget.
I bet it tastes just the same only better now that since you broke it all the calories leaked out and it is now non fattening......
I still need to post on the mini ones I made. Total failure, except that I broke them all apart, put them in a tin foil pan. Took them to work, 'toasted' the bits in the pan & then drizzeld(sp?) the icing. I called it Cranberry Cake Crumble & it was delicious!
It only matters what it tastes like. At least it didn't end up on the floor. My husband made a yummy cake for my birthday once and then proceeded to drop the entire thing on the floor of the porch. None of it could be resurrected.
Haha, nice to see it happens to others. Just do what I do, turn it so the good side is facing out LOL!
Haha, glad I am not the only one :) And I "clean up" the same way you do...can't leave a mess for anyone else to deal with :P

Sparkless - I was explaining why the cake looked as it did last night and said that at least it didn't land on the floor. The guy who was here said he would have eaten it anyway. (He has no idea what may be on my kitchen floor!)

One time, we spent hours (and days) picking and cleaning huckleberries (they aren't big here on the Oregon coast-about the size of a small pea). It's a pain. Hubby made pie crust and prepared and baked two beautiful pies. He packed them outside on a cookie sheet to show off to my mom and tripped. Yep, both pies ended up face (or top) first in the dirty gravel and the dogs were on them instantly. Pride goeth before a fall, you know.
Ruth - Oh, now that would have reduced me to tears! I'm not a wild berry picker to begin with because of the loooonnng amount of tiiiime it takes to gather enough to do anything with. Your husband has my sympathies on that one!
Heehee!!!! See, that's how it looks when I make it, and it still goes for $60 at our youth fundraiser. I think I could drop it on the floor and auction off the forks and it will still make as much! That was a good laugh and I'm sorry I checked in late, I have been uber-sick on the couch for 2 days but I'm BACK and ready for the last half of my seed catalogs!
Erin - No, I've seen pictures of your cakes and they look perfect!
What's with this being sick? Have you had the flu . . . or a bad cold?
I ordered seeds from three places this year and have received two of them already. Had to order a bunch of lettuce varieties (stash was low) and I've decided that at the price I paid for a teeny-tiny packet, I'm starting them as individual seeds INSIDE rather than having to thin most of them after planting outside.
As we used to say, it will look a whole lot worse when it gets where it's going! That cake is drool-worthy in ANY shape!

Glad that doesn't just happen to me! =) I made some mini corn bread muffins for a party last week. Obviously nowhere near enough grease in the cups. I had to dig every one out with a spoon - after all the tops fell off! I just told everyone I had pre-split the muffins. =)
Aimee - Great solution to your stuck-in-the-pan muffins! I was lucky that (for once) this cake wasn't meant to take out in public. On our table in front of "company" was bad enough!
