Happy Easter!

For some reason, the Easter holiday kind of snuck up on me this year. I think it had something to do with our early spring weather being warm way too soon, then back to more normal temps and then more days of more warmth than we usually see for another 6 to 8 weeks. So what does that have to do with feeling like Easter came too soon? Probably not a thing, except I feel all out of kilter this spring.

At any rate, I got myself in gear today and made some sugar cookies in the shape of eggs and decorated them.

They'll be slipped into Easter baskets and a few will be given away. As you know, I'm not a detailed, fussy cookie decorator whether it be for Christmas or Easter or any other holiday. I like to claim my style is "rustic." Oh well, they are colorful at least.

Since my egg-shaped cookie cutter is over 4" in length, I didn't get very many cookies out of the single batch of dough. Maybe I need to seek out a smaller cutter? Nah, then the smaller "eggs" would only be harder to decorate.

Our Easter Sunday may include a visit with friends in the morning and then our daughter will join us here at home in the afternoon. Whatever your plans may be, I hope you have a very pleasant day.

Those cookies look so yummy. It's funny, I always think cake for Easter and cookies for Christmas. You've got me thinking of pretty pastel frosting now. Happy Easter MPea and PPea!

I blame the weather. Between that and the fact that they change the date of Easter every year, how could it not help but sneak up on us.

I confess I do like sugar cookies with frosting. I never make them though I've saved all my cookie cutters. Maybe when my granddaughter gets big enough, I'll pull them out and dust them off! Hmm, that means I'd have to find them first.

I love the eggs - I have to try those next year. This year we have a bunny cake. Family is coming over soon for coloring eggs and brunch!

judy - Hope your Easter Sunday settled down after the disturbing start in the middle of the night.

Sue - Same to you, Sue! Where are you two wanderers off to now?

tami - Thank you, ma'am. You're right . . . a nice, white coconut cake would be a nice treat for Easter.

Leigh - By this time next year your kitchen will be so organized you'll know exactly where your cookie cutters are!

Stephanie - Thanks, Stephanie. The day has wound down now (it was very nice) and hubby and I are thinking of an early bedtime!

JoAnn - I've always though an Easter Brunch is the perfect meal! A bunny cake? I think that might be beyond my talents!!

I am making oatmeal cookies for hubby to take out of town and colored eggs last night. In some ways I miss the "decorating", Easter baskets, Easter Dresses, egg hunts, etc and in other ways I am looking forward to only having to pack away 4 small Easter decorations tomorrow.

I wish I had the patience to do cookie cut-outs! But I agree, the bigger the cookie cutter, the less decorating that has to be done. And then everyone can marvel at the size of your cookie and not the less-than-"perfect" decorating. My, that's a large cookie you made, says everyone!

Sugar cookies are the best! And the bigger they are the better cause you can only eat one and not look like a pig.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Hope you had a great Easter!

Those cookies are marvelous! Who wouldn't be thrilled with a few of those tucked in an Easter basket? Hope you had a wonderful day. I'm pretty confused myself, over this spring. Sunny and balmy yesterday, followed by morning snow.

Ruth - I'm behind on most everything right now including responses to comments here and putting away my Easter decorations! I don't have a whole bunch but they really need to be packed away today. You can get away with leaving up Christmas decorations way past Christmas . . . but not Easter!

CR - Ha! That's kind of like saying to the parents of a newborn, "My, that's a healthy looking baby!" when the little red-faced prune can't be called "beautiful!" I love your way of looking at things!

sell my house - Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Sparkless - It's been kind of a tradition that I make my frosted sugar cookies for each holiday. Since I'm not crazy about the frosting part, I don't know how I got roped into it!

Erin - Our Easter seem to come and go with lightning speed. Too much to do right now including all those "jobs" opening up outside!

Susan - Gets kinda hard to keep rolling with the up and down weather Ma Nature throws at us, doesn't it?
