Seeking A Little Energy

I don't have much faith I will be receiving any great amounts (of energy, that is) until at least tomorrow morning after a full night's sleep. (Or at least I'm hoping for a full night's sleep tonight.) I definitely did not get one last night. Lights out around 10:30. Wide awake at 3:30. Hmmm. Five hours sleep is not enough to enable this gal to get up and do what needs to be done.

Laid there trying to think pleasant, sleep-inducing thoughts until 5 a.m. at which time I stomped into my quilting room (yes, I was irritated at not being able to sleep and threw a little bit of fabric around for a few minutes) and then worked on making little flags for 4th of July decorations. (Do you think I'll remember come July that my insomnia in March helped me get these little flags done?)

On the weather front, we've fallen right back into more normal (read: cold) temperatures for this time of year. It was 24 degrees at 5 o'clock this morning and we hit our high for the day of 36 at about mid-afternoon. Freezing rain forecast tomorrow and Wednesday. Not nice, Mama Nature, not nice.

Chicken Mama joined us for dinner tonight. We had pancakes, bacon and a green tossed salad on the side.

The pancakes were garnished with some of Chicken Mama's homemade blueberry-raspberry syrup. Mmmm-mm, it was good!

It's time for a little give-a-way over on my quilting blog. Even if you don't quilt, you could win something nice to give to a quilting friend. Croggle on over and take a look!

Not good when you cannot sleep. Have you tried melatonin? Tramp 1 and I are both sleeping better since we started taking it a couple of weeks ago. Your dinner sounds delicious - comforting food for a chilly night. Hope you sleep better tonight.

That syrup sounds yummy. Aren't you glad you didn't plant anything yet?

I'll have to send you some of the fairy dust that keeps getting sprinkled on me, I have problems staying awake. Want to stay up tonight to watch tv program and I'll bet I fall asleep with the first commercial.

Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

So winter finally came.....now that it's Spring!

Well, when I first saw your post title and the little thumbnail photo of the bottle I thought maybe you had taken to home-brewing some sort of Red Bull energy drink. I was glad to discover it was blueberry syrup. Although...if you ever find yourself onto something, you let me know. I have my share of insomnia bouts and sometimes coffee just doesn't cut it.

Oh, dear! Not getting sleep just messes with everything else. There's nothing that is more upsetting in the middle of the night than not being able to sleep, and just laying there. Tonight should be an early to bed night, I would think.
The pancakes and syrup sound yummy! I love breakfast for dinner!

I'm having one of those can't sleep moments right now......

I think the change of seasons is throwing all our sleep off. I hope you get a fantastic sleep tonight.
That syrup sounds wonderful!

If you would just come down here and dig out raspberry bushes all day, you would not have this problem. Sheesh!

Oh man, sorry to hear you didn't get a good night's sleep :/ Nothing worse I think. Sure hope you are able to get a good rest, and find that energy (boy do I know that feeling well).

Boy have I been there. I used to be able to sleep so well, now it's all over the place. I don't lay there hoping to sleep though, I just go ahead and get up and try to distract myself with doing something else for an hour or two. I can usually go back down but I've had the "stomping mad" night's when it hasn't happened. (freakin hormones)

I hate it when I can't sleep. So annoying, almost to the point of making a person cry. I know what you mean about "stomping" to the quilt room...although I must say that's a pretty nice place to stomp to!

This not sleeping thing seems to be going around. I hope last night was better for you.

I'm starting to get jealous of the time you've been spending in the quilt studio, even though you deserve it more than most of us LOL!!! I'm starting to think about doing some myself :)

would you believe I made breakfast for supper last night too, thats all I could muster after this week-end and all day at the VA yesterday,we did not get too much news yesterday,Jerry might need a transfusion, but he;s had those it was the waiting around and pushing the wheel chair for all the in between -one appt. at 9:00 am and the other at 1:00 ,you can only do so much at a hospital and with the winds yesterday it wasn't one of those " lets tour the hospital grounds today" although it is beautiful out there, gotta tell you all tho, can't wait for his appt on the 10th of April so they can confirm there suspicions that there really is not a spot on the liver ,its a glitch in the pictures,( MIRACLE) MORE SCANS ON THE 4TH-i'd be so happy we could eat liver for Easter, hahaha

I LOVE your new header!!! Did you 'make' the eggs? So cute! Now, if you're like me and actually finish a seasonal project early, like your little flags, they will be long-forgotten by the time the actual holiday arrives to be able to put them out.... and be found months later after the holiday has passed... too late to be used!!! :) Brrrr, that is cold. We are 'colder' today with a high scheduled for 70 degrees...it's been hitting 80 degrees here now almost daily. I'd also love to hear how Chicken Mama makes her syrup! That looks, and sounds, delicious. And last, but certainly not least.... I hope your sleepless night was just a passing night and that you'll get a good night's sleep tonight. In the meantime, hope you're in your wonderful quilting room working on your projects!

I remember in biology class learning about people who only needed to sleep a few hours a day and could function normally. It is, of course, a rare occurance, but by golly wouldnt that be wonderful! How much more time we would have in a day. Alas, I am from the 'must have 8 hours' camp, so I really feel for you. Hopefully it was a fleeting disruption.

2 Tramps - I've tried a couple of natural sleep remedies, but know my problem stems from my subconscious brain not letting go of daytime issues. I just need to get my head in a better place so it's mind over matter! I did sleep well last night though. Thanks for the caring.

The Weekend Homesteader - Yep, I am glad I didn't get out to the garden to plant anything. But as soon as this cold week passes us by, I'm gonna drag a cold frame over to one of the raised beds and do it! (I'll call them sacrificial seeds!)

Tombstone Livestock - I have your problem if I sit down during the day! Heck, I even get sleepy sitting at the computer. Z-Z-Z-zzzzz . . .

CR - Winter, but only for this week so the weathermen say. (Not that I believe THEM!)

I'll Call You Jane - I know! Why can we feel so, so tired during the day and then not be able to sleep during the night when we can and should!?

Lori - I don't know why, but those pancakes last night were sooooo good! I could eat them again tonight! (But I think we're having Mac and Cheese. Homemade, of course! ;o])

Leigh - So STOP THINKING! (Oh, so much easier said than done, huh?)

Sparkless - The best thing about CM's syrup is that it tastes so fresh! Not overly sweet at all, but still yummy.

I love that word, "croggle". It so aptly describes my movements this morning. I think it was the slap of reality I received when I looked at the outdoor temps and read: "18". I'd love to give you some energy - so, when I finally find enough for the both of us, I'll send it your way!

Sue - Believe me, I've suffered insomnia after days when I DID dig ditches all day! My sleeplessness is caused by my "off" switch being out of commission. I have periods when I wake up thinking . . . of things that are not condusive to sleep!

Stephanie - I was talking with a friend on Sunday who is one of the hardest working women I know. And she said nothing zaps her energy like emotional/mental turmoil. So, so true.

Tami - Well, you'd sure think I'd be done with the wacky hormonal thing by now but . . . I always think if I just lie there a leetle bit longer, I'll fall back asleep. 'Twould cause a lot less angst if I would just get up and go quilt! (Or maybe I'll call you. ;o])

Mama Tea - We all need to meet at a nice spa somewhere (that wouldn't cost any money) to decompress and be totally waited on, doncha think?

Judy - Yes, I did sleep much better last night . . . until the leg cramp shot me upright at 5:55!

Erin - I'm really sneaking as much as I can in this last week of March as the merry month of April is back to remodeling for us. Ugh.

judy - WHY do you always have to wait so long for test results? It just doesn't seem necessary to take the amount of time it does!

Lisa - Ha! OR I get the flags all done . . . and then can't FIND them when July nears! I'm going crazy right now looking for a small Easter themed wall hanging I know is nearly done . . . but I don't know where I stashed it!

Jane - Yes, yes, yes! Susan at e-i-e-i-omg! seems to function very well on 4-5 hours of sleep a night and she accomplishes mountains on her homestead along with working a full-time outside job. I dislike her intensely. (You know I love you, Sweezie!)

Susan - Listen, you little "croggler," I just gave you great props for being such a dynamo on few hours of sleep. You can't go pulling the no-energy card on me now! :o]

Wendy said...

Hope your energy comes back to you soon!

Mama Pea said...

Hi, Wendy - I got a good night's sleep last night and had more zip and zing today. (Although it wouldn't have taken much to get me to lie down around 3:30 . . . but I didn't!)
