I spent the WHOLE day yesterday in my quilt studio! The whole day.
It was hubby's suggestion (have I been THAT awful to live with lately?) and he made the day so easy for me.
We had granola for breakfast (have I mentioned he does NOT like cold cereal?), he made us smoothies for lunch (mine was delivered to the quilt studio and I leisurely slurped it there while working) and then he made us fried egg sandwiches for dinner. AND he did all the dishes that accumulated throughout the day.
I tell ya, it felt like one of the best days I've had in a long time. I plan on posting what I got accomplished later today. I had oodles of fun and finished a baby quilt (except for the binding) that has been half quilted for ages!
Now what do I have to do to get a repeat of the day . . . oh say, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and alternate Sunday of each week? (Greedy little bugger, aren't I?)

Yay for Papa Pea! What a wonderful man! He knows what it takes to get you to do something for yourself. I'm so happy you got "You" time!
Now, stop sending snow down here, will ya????????????
oo-la-la, Mama Pea.... how lovely! A well-deserved day for you. :o) What a kind Hubby you have!
got quilts? you know [ got milk?] but anyway, you deserved that day and many more like it. what a stain your under right now.I saw a ad on craigslist the other day while I browse [ I pretend I'm shopping --shh-don't laugh ] these big quits -used were selling for $900.00 wow I guess everyone thinks it is a past time quickly passing, but not while your around ,it won't be-so whoop te do -keep quilting on
You must find out WHAT is was that got Papa Pea not only making meals, but eating ones he really doesnt like and report back pronto. Information like this must be shared with the masses!
Wow, that sounds like a great "vacation"! And yes, we all want to know what caused the Papa to provide you with such a wonderful reprieve!?
Now look who's smart! I can't remember my hubby ever doing anything quite like that. Of course he cooks, but he's not so good at washing the dishes afterward - or delivering meals to me while I'm working away. =)
Hi Mama Pea ~ with all the things you accomplish in a day, you deserve a day to work on what you want. Isn't it funny how just working on a project like that can make one feel so good?! And what a great husband!! I think that is what is so hard for me to get my 'personal' projects done is stopping and starting during the day. Hey I think your prospective 'schedule' sounds reasonable to me!!
PS different subject - those molasses cookies look great! I'll be trying your recipe as I LOVE molasses.
Sue - Boy, I am out of it! You've been getting snow?? Lots of it? Hey, we'll take whatever you want to send our way.
Mooberry Farmwife - I do have a WONDERFUL hubby. I've decided to keep him. (49th anniversary - omigosh! - coming up this summer!)
judy - Oh, yes, I have several of those $900 quilts in my collection. HAHAHAHAHA!
Jane - Ha! If I knew exactly WHAT the secret to what happened was, I'd use it myself over and over and over and . . .
But seriously, he is constantly encouraging me to take more "time off." But some of us, as you well know, aren't real bright! ;o]
Carolyn Renee - Read above comment to Jane. And please find source of Smart Pills for those of us who need them!
Aimee - Because your hubby does all the cooking, I think you're one smart cookie who is way ahead of the rest of us!
Lisa - You hit the nail on the head. I've been trying to get the quilting on that baby quilt done for sooooo long, but once I sat down and put in a couple of concentrated hours on it, it seemed no chore at all. 15 minutes here and there just doesn't cut it!
Hooray for another molasses lover on board! Hope you do like the cookies.
Is this not telling you something? You need to get in there at LEAST once a week - those creative juices need to flow, baby! Hurray for Papa Pea! Can't wait to see what you've been up to.
It's wonderful to have a thoughtful and supportive husband.
Oh my gosh! Lots of hugs to Papa Pea for his gift of time to you. Should I rush right over to your quilt blog or will you show the profits of your day here? It is so wonderful to have a whole uninterrupted day to sew/quilt. Even without kids, a lot of us don't get that. It does help you keep focused and get things done though, doesn't it? Yay for you MP. Bet you feel so much better mentally. I can hear it in your "voice". But what was PP up to while you were quilting? Hmmmm!
PS: You must have been a child bride to be coming up on your 49th anniversary. Next year you will have to do something BIG!!!
Oh...that had to feel good. Now tell him you need a couple more days :-)
Oh how wonderful! Now, that's love & appreciation. Glad you had a relaxing & productive day
See you aren't lazy at all! Even on your relaxation days you get more done than most people.
What does Papa Pea do for his relaxation days?
Susan - Sure hate to spoil the "glow" but, holy moley, am I getting bit in the butt today for things I let slide yesterday! Good thing I'm retired and not busy. Sigh.
The Weekend Homesteader - That he is!
P.S. I'm having trouble leaving a comment on your blog. Grumpff. Blankety-blank Blogger! I'll keep trying.
Karen L. - Oh, I want so much to get a post up on my quilting blog today! But wouldn't cha know it, so far the day has been nutso. About a million phone calls and people in and out as if it were a destination point at the end of a highway instead of us hidden back here in the woods!
What was Papa Pea doing yesterday when I was luxuriating with my fabric? I wasn't paying attention but there were no bad words or blood so I think he did just fine without me to watch over him! (He has NO trouble keeping busy any day!)
Karen L. - Whoops, almost missed this little add on of yours. Yes, I was a child bride. I was only 10. (Ha!) Since both of us are on the shy and quiet side and avoid the spot light, whatever celebrating we do next year will be very low key, you can be sure of that.
dr momi - He's always encouraging me to spend more time on my quilting, bless his little heart. It's me who has trouble not looking at all the "must/should dos!"
Katidids - Not only did the day fly by, but I also felt like I got a lot of things done that I wanted to do! It was a super day.
Sparkless - Papa Pea could spend whole days reading (he's a total "knowledge seeker" nut) and researching, or hiking in the woods. He loves to go out bush-whacking to the point of getting lost and seeing new territory. Fortunately, he has an excellent sense of direction and always finds his way back! He carries a fully supplied pack on those occasions and could safely spend a night in the woods with no problem.
'So glad that you got the Perfect Day that you so deserve!! PP is a real mensch and wins a whole galaxy of gold stars!-"M"
"M" - He's been walking around with a Gold Star pasted to his forehead all day.
How wonderful is that... I think I will post a link to this so my hubby can get inspired by Papa Pea. I would love a whole day to do something I wanted..
So glad you got to play in your quilting studio!! That's how I felt the day I FINALLY got to play with my new scrapbooking stuff (that I've owned for 6 months and not touched) LOL! Can't wait to see what you are creating...
Yeah!!!! You so deserved it after all the remodeling you have been doing:)
Ruth - I don't think anyone who hasn't been a homemaker gets exactly what it's like to never be able to "walk away" from your work. After we had planned (for a week!) my "day off" Thursday, I got up and started to do what I usually do. You don't even think of all the gazillion things you just do every day because they're there! Hubby got a little gruff with me and all but pushed me into my quilt studio. He asked, "You want to do this day, right?" "Yes, I really, really do." "Well, stop sabotaging yourself and start doing it!" Once I got over that hump and shut the door closing myself in, I was GOOD!
Erin - Failed to get the post done yesterday I wanted, but come heck or high water, I'll get it done today! Yay for your scrapbooking!
Stephanie - Thanks, m'dear! I'm tickled that something I enjoy so much didn't cost a cent! (Okay, somewhere along the line SOMEBODY bought the sewing machine, fabric, thread, etc., but you know what I mean!)
