After reading Carolyn Renee's post this morning over at Krazo Acres, I decided I had to get busy and make a decision of a pattern for an apron to make for Susan's (E-i-e-i-omg!) Great Apron Sew-Off that she's roping us all into.
The gals are giving me credit for getting the ball rolling on this whoop-dee-do affair but all I said was that maybe we should all make an apron sometime this winter (you know, when things slow down and we're all looking for something to do . . . big fat HA!) and then post (and WEAR in the kitchen so we stop ruining clothes) pictures of our aprons.
Well, Susan is a gal who takes bulls (or sheep as she has sheep but no bulls) by the horns and gets things done while I'm sitting on my rusty-duster . . . um, uh, er . . . thinking.
So here are my patterns I need to choose from.
I made this one a couple of years ago and really like it. It's comfy and easy to wear. My daughter says I look pregnant in it. The only disadvantage of it is that the tie in the back is so high that I can't tie it myself, but have to go seek help. Nope, on second thought, I won't make this one again. I want to do something different.
The cat pocket shown on this one would definitely not appear on the one I would make. I do like the old-fashioned style of the apron though.
This looks comfortable and I love the styles from the '40s.
I've saved this pattern from many years ago. (It's probably older than most of you reading this.) I like both the red and yellow styles.
Well, at least I've gotten this far. How much longer will I dawdle over choosing the pattern? Oh, horse feathers! THEN I've got to choose some fabric. What have I gotten into???

Patterns? I don't know anything about patterns. Lucky for me I don't need one for my duct tape/twine design;)
Haha the second one is definitely my choice, I have a similar pattern, with NO KITTIES thank you LOL....!
I dare you to make #1 in the red [ I know me and red-sicking isn't it ]-Is she even wearing pants ,a mini skirt, anything under that apron-I guess you have to look like her to look like that.say all you easterners-be careful of the nor'easter coming in a Halloween storm for them,no fun,no fun at all
Jane - Wait a minute! I thought you were spinning some of your doggie's fur and going to use that!
Erin - The pattern even has a diagram for embroidering on the kitty's face! Want me to send it to you? ;o}
judy - Hey, there's nothing wrong with a red apron! I made mine in an orange print.
I was pulling out my patterns as well. Too many decisions!! I personally like #3.
And I'm thinking about a batik or hand-dye for mine- if I have enough fabric of the one I'm thinking of... Hmm, maybe I can have some contrasting pieces.....
Judy
Good thing you all are talking about this or I would tend to forget! ...I don't even sew...what did I get myself into!
You don't need a pattern for an apron! I may just have to make one to show you. I'll have to make the husband wear it though cause I'm not the family cook. LOL!
Oh gosh. I do love aprons and I do need another. "Some time this winter" may be awhile for me. Glad you're leading the way (or at least running as fast as you can to keep up :).
Judy - Contrasting pieces would work fine on an apron, I'm sure. Go for it!
dr momi - You can do it! You can do it! You can do it! :o}
Sparkless - YOU may not need a pattern to make an apron, but I do! Well, I'm sure I could make a gathered half-apron without a pattern. But I want a full cover most of my clothes apron!
Leigh - Click on Susan's blog (E-i-e-i-omg!) on my side bar and see the time limits she's given us. Let's do it!
Kitty apron, Kitty Apron, Kitty Apron!!!!
BTW, this whole apron-shenanagan IS your doing. Teach ya to keep yer yap shut, eh? :)
The Wendy's apron pattern is very cute! They're all cute, really. I can't wait to see everyone's work. Fun, fun!
Well, I'm the WEIRDO as usual. I LIKE the kitty. Oh, there is no helping me. As a matter of fact , I'd even make the kitty out of felt! So there!!
:D
(if I knew how to sew!)
I don't need a pattern - I already have an idea that will involve very little sewing even. Which is good because WHO HAS THE TIME!?!?!
Much of my quilting fabric arrived this week but no thread or needles... my creation may be constructed with staples and twine! lol
that's ok, my cast is off yesterday and I am in a splint.....not easy to move the wrist but do-able. going shopping tomorrow for the fabric and pattern as I have a 40% off coupon. Been wanting to make one for a while so this should be interesting.
Tinah
Carolyn Renee - Ya know what you are, Missy? You are a TROUBLE MAKER! ;o]
Patty - Now if were all rich and had nothing better to do, we could all hop on a plane to meet at some exotic location and party all weekend (wearing our finished aprons, of course)!
Sue - Good thing you don't know how to sew. If you did, you could spend the winter making cute little felt kitty faces for all of us to sew on our aprons. (If that happened, one of us would have to come and take away your supplies and put you in a nice soft room somewhere.)
Jen - What, no duct tape involved?
I like Wendy's apron. Minus the cat. I'm headed over to EIEIO to check it out!!
~~Lori
At first I liked the 1941, but on second thought I like the Wendy's because of the shaping. It's a little more fun than functional!
Lori and Sharon - You gals are trying to sway me from the one I chose!
Tina - I think you'll get extra points right off the bat for operating with a handicap. Glad you're game to join us!
Personally I really like the red one on the last pattern. But since I'm not in on the project, what do I know ... LOL
I'd have to get ALL the chicken babies dust off and out of all cracks and crevices in the craft room - or I would be working in total dust.
Good luck ladies!
Yvette
Yvette - Isn't it amazing the amount of dust and dirt the baby chicks create??
The red one is the one I'm leaning toward, too. You know, it's not too late for you to join in on the fun! :o]
