How's the remodeling going? Well, believe it or not, it is going . . . I just don't have pictures that show much of anything interesting yet. (Wanna see a couple of new electrical outlets? Nah, I didn't think so.) But, hang in here, pictures will appear . . . sometime.
In the meantime, life has a habit of getting in the way and hampering forward moving progress.
It's either an emergency repair or an opportunity we have to jump on while it's available or simply the "must dos" of day-to-day living. With our short "good weather" season (read: less harsh, nasty, frigid, rainy, snowy, icy, etc.) in which it's soooo much easier (and less harmful to the human body) to do soooo many things, it's really hard to choose where we put our time.
What's hubby doing in the above picture?
Don't even ask. It either falls under emergency repair or an opportunity to jump on something while it's available or a "must do" of daily living. All I know is that it doesn't strictly qualify as "remodeling," but that's okay. All things come in good time.
However, I have come to realize that the living of daily life certainly does get in the way when you're trying to get from here to there in a straight line.

here to there in a straight line? Ack. That's overrated. :)
Mama Tea - Phew! Glad to hear that! ;o}
I agree, the straight line would be SO boring. I mean, really, get something done in a timely fashion, according to 'the plan'. Why would we ever want that to happen.
And I so understand the problem of working really hard all day and not really have much to 'show' for it.
Keep it up. It will happen- we've been remodeling for the last two years and still aren't done.- not that you wanted to hear that!
Judy
If you got everything done when you wanted them done you'd have nothing to do and what would you blog about? I agree that life would be just that little bit more boring without those little surprises.
I posted electrical outlets when we did our renovation but only because when we replaced them my dad couldn't believe that the old ones he took out still worked. They were old ceramic ones at least from the 1920 or 30's.
Know that feeling well Mama Pea, as you told me the other day: take it one day at a time:) Hugs and can't wait to see the pictures.
I like a straight line!! Get er done. Of course that never happens. My Husband cut some of the hedges, then he didnt get around to cutting the rest for almost two months. How I would LOVE to just get a project done in a reasonable amount of time. You appear so much more patient than I, Mama Pea. I wish you the best of luck and cant wait to see the progress.
Daily living -I know-thank god my son Dan has some talent in the household division. Since my husband doesn't move around the house anymore in fact he is totally dependent on me to help him [ shower ,make his meals etc]. This week Dan put new screen on patio door [ the kids thought that tiny hole was the door knob] and fixed the leak in the bathroom faucet,but found out by trial and error we needed a whole new faucet which he installed so proud of him-NOW -the electrical in the kitchen might be a little harder 1/2 done---yea to what you and I have accomplished so far.
Judy - Thanks for the encouraging words. Even though there rarely seems to be enough progress you can see at the end of the day, I'm grateful to be doing what we're doing where we're doing it!
Sparkless - Ha! What would I blog about? Maybe I could manage to get back into my quilt studio, actually do some quilting and get my quilting blog up and going again!
Stephanie - Somehow, it's easier to tell someone else to be patient . . . ! ;o}
Jane - I. Am. Not. Patient! Just ask my husband. (Growl, grumpf.) I, too, love a straight line. Well, it is the shortest distance between two points, right? So why are there so many hurdles, mud puddles and large mountains in the way??
judy - Does your son Dan make house calls? ;o}
you got that right!! (great post)
Dmarie - Thanks! It's nice to know I'm right once in a while. Now . . . ya got any solution to the dilemma? ;o}
Oh heck, distraction comes in many forms. Each one more appealing than the previous. Suddenly they look at you and ask "What's your name again?" Any progress in those instances is good! :)
APG - I'm gonna keep that in mind. Thanks! :o}
I do things in LOTS of straight lines - A to C, C to F, F to B - hehehe. Let's face it - there is just TOO MUCH of everything. So we do the best we can and chill the chardonnay. I think we would love to see your new outlets...
With your "construction season" length, you will definitely have to ditch the proper order of things LOL. Get all "weather dependent" things done first! Remember to stain any wood you need before frost hits or you'll end up smelling up the house, another learned from experience!
Susan - That's it. I'm dropping everything else and doing a cross stitch sampler that says, "We do the best we can and chill the chardonnay." LOVE it! :o}
Erin - Ain't that the truth?! I don't know how many times we wondered why we didn't stain or paint or poly when we could have opened up the house and let the fumes out! (You'd THINK we'd learn.)
