Good Thing / Bad Thing

Good Thing: The applesauce I canned this year is even better than last year's.

Bad Thing: We are tearing through it. I don't think I made enough. I'm going to have to do some more.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: I've made a new daily schedule for myself so I can get some time every day in my quilt studio.

Bad Thing: I don't think I'll be able to stick to it.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: For the past week, I've cut out all desserts, goodies and eating in between meals.

Bad Thing: My jeans have yet to acknowledge this extreme sacrifice.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: On our last trip to the big city, I finally found a new bra that I though would be comfortable.

Bad Thing: It's not.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: I'm nearly finished knitting a surprise pair of socks for a friend. The yarn is a lovely 75% washable wool and 25% nylon.

Bad Thing: I just found out she can't wear anything with even a smidge of wool in it.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: Our freezers are stuffed to the brim with wonderful food for the coming year.

Bad Thing: I can't find anything I want without unloading approximately half of the freezer.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: My daughter told me three good jokes Tuesday night.

Bad Thing: I can't remember any of them.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: My Halloween decorations really looked good this year.

Bad Thing: They're still up.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: We ran out of dog food so fed Zoey the Wonder Dog a mixture of rice and ground beef.

Bad Thing: She liked it. Much better than dog food.

* * * * * * * *

Good Thing: When we turn our clocks back one hour this weekend, it will get light earlier in the morning.

Bad Thing: It will start to get dark right after lunch.

"dark after lunch" that made me howl, even though I know it's true!

I always want to ask people "are you REALLY allergic to wool"? because even though I know some people are, most of them just think of wool as the old kind of scratchy raw wool and not the wonderful fibers available today. But to be fair, I know there are a few who have an actual allergy to lanolin.

Can't find anything in the freezer, either - even though I have drawn up a "schematic" of the contents LOL

I admit that I have been considering asking hubby to fashion a bra out of duct tape for me - at least if it doesn't fit I won't be out a bunch of money LOL!

Mama Pea and Erin- You BOTH are hilarious, and add a bright spot to my day! :)

I love this post!!

Erin - I have to comment on the bra thing. There is nothing (NOTHING, do you hear me?) that men have to wear that is comparable to a bra. Whenever I complain, my hubby says, "So why do you bother wearing one at all? I sure wouldn't." How do you reply to that one? Men have absolutely no concept. At all. Even.

Patty - That's what we're here for! Hugs.

ThyHand - I almost didn't post it because I felt it was so lame compared to what others (like you!) are able to write about.

Hahahahahahahaha!!!

Just be grateful you don't have to wear a bra with girders and steel supports. I have to special order mine from Menards. ;)

Oh my gosh I can't decide which is funnier and I have tears in my eyes!!! I've re-read them FOUR times already!!

Just loved'em. I have a visual of you - legs only coming out of the freezer, braless and not remembering what you went in for and now it's dark, so you may as well go to bed!

Ok, FIVE times now... :)

Menards Jo? That is awesome! Point for you!

Jo, I just had to rip out my cast-ons for hubby's sock and IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! I was reading these comments on my cell phone propped next to me and started laughing so hard my stitches slipped off! What we women go through... why indeed?!! LOL Although hubby says he can make anything I want out of duct tape...

Loved this---and I snorted coffee all over the table when you mentioned getting dark after lunch. Love the LONG days of summer here in the north, but unfortunately, we all know what that means----ENDLESS NIGHT in the winter. Sigh.
As for the bra thing----
http://www.amazon.com/Warners-Elements-Wire-Free-Contour-2003/dp/B000WZXB18
THE WORLD'S MOST COMFORTABLE BRA!!!

I order them by the dozen because I'm so afraid they're going to be discontinued(ya know-women want WIRES-not comfort!!!!). I get them from Kohls.com but of course, the one time I want to use a link from them, their site is down. Anywho---no wires and therefore extremely COMFORTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another great post! I love to have fun and laugh this time of morning.

I think the sock problem should end with: Good Thing: I get to keep them!

I saw on another blog that a woman knit her own bras. That would be a good new life for the socks. Two down.

Jo - You wouldn't believe how hard I laughed at your comment! I give you five points. (Gotta remember that line.) :o)

APG - Okay, your visual picture ranks right up there with Jo's comment! I'm so short I have had a fear of topping into the freezer when going for something at the bottom! Can't you see the headline? "Vertically Challenged Woman Disappears. Package of Pork Chops and Amana Freezer Under Suspicion."

Erin - Would be okay with you if I sent your hubby a roll of duct tape and my measurements?

Sue - I haven't tracked down your link yet (limited computer time in the morning according to my new daily schedule!), but I definitely will later today. We even have a Kohl's in the big city nearest us so I can go try one on. Yippee! Thank you!

Leigh - Thanks! When CAN'T we use a laugh?? Maybe we should start telling jokes on a regular basis. I know I could use a good guffaw a couple of times a day!

JJ - DANG. Why didn't I think of that twist?!

Jane - Ohmygawd! The visual you just presented has me convulsing!!

We should have thought of this earlier, with 7 months worth of time onboard the ship, he probably could have had them made and customized even, bedazzled? LOL I gave up LONG ago and only wear sports bras, they're kind of like duct tape anyway :)

Jen - You don't know how true your statement probably is! Zoey has finally started to show signs of aging the past few months . . . she's 12-1/2 now. We've always had trouble keeping weight on her and now that she doesn't seem that interested in food, she's getting thinner. But she was SO enthusiastic about her "new" dog food that I'll have to keep making it for her. (What's a mother to do??)

That reminds me of about a month ago after our big deployment party I hosted and Marley got so sick from people feeding her, I actually thought we were going to lose her - after fasting she got to have chicken, broth and rice for over a week! I think she may be contemplating acting like an anorexic so I'll do it again!

Oh boy! What a week you have had.

At least you can laugh about it.

:) Funny and I can certainly relate to many of them. Have a great weekend.

Proof this tickled me- I'm back to read it again! And commiserate- my sister and I made a pact not to eat anything after dinner...until Thanksgiving. My pants show no progress either.

I feel like printing this post and all the comments and putting it on my refrigerator so I can read it every morning! What a perfect way to start my day! And what a treasury of smart, funny women you are! Mama Pea, you are a gem. Thanks for making my day.

Erin - I really don't believe it's within a dog's mentality to think that way but you've gotta wonder sometimes! Zoey gets a little treat at night when hubby and I sit down to read/do handwork before bedtime. When we sit down she knows this signals her "treat time" and begs for it. If she hasn't finished all of her supper, hubby will tell her, "No treats until you clean your dish." At which time she goes out into the entryroom and cleans her dish.

Cindy - We have to keep laughing, don't we?

Lorie - I think we can ALL relate! Hope your weekend is great, too.

ThyHand - And isn't it amazing when you make that kind of a pledge how OFTEN you find yourself starting to pop just one little thing (and another little thing) into your mouth?!? Arrrrgh!

Susan - I honestly feel it's you and all my readers who are the gems. And talk about FUNNY!!

Mama Pea said...

Erin - I almost forgot to comment on the vision of your hubby hand-crafting bras for all of us out of duct tape and sewing sequins on them. Maybe pasting on a few rhinestones, too. Whadda ya think guys on his ship would have to say about that? (Tee-hee!)

I read your post and laughed, wanted to comment...but couldn't think of anything as funny and cute as all your other commentors. Be thankful Mama Pea. You have a lovely group of friends! And witty too!!

Beth - Yes, I do have a lovely group of friends. And YOU are one of them!
