Just look at this poor, exhausted child.
This is the darling daughter of our niece, K, and her husband, B. She is sound asleep on the love seat with a light blazing over her head and one at her feet a couple of nights ago.
The rest of us (Chicken Mama, my hubby, family visiting from California and me) were scattered elsewhere in the kitchen/living room yakking away but this little dumpling at 5-1/2 years old (well, actually 5-3/4 as she will point out) was plumb worn out from the busyness of the day.
Her parents told us later that she cried when they left. Her mama assured her she would see us again in the morning to which L said tearfully, "But they live in MINNESOTA, and I don't!"
It's okay, L. We're keeping you here with us when your parents leave.

Awww! I feel the same way sometimes when I read your posts (the sad thing, not the exhausted sleeping thing). You are too delightful and wise and friendly to be THAT FAR AWAY!!!
That is too cute! She obvioulsy didn't mind the light or noise as it comforted her right to sleep!
Isn't she sweet...some people can sleep anywhere when the need comes around. You must have worn her out!
;0)
I am in agreement with MaineCelt - when I think, boy, would I love to see Mama Pea's garden, or, I wonder what Mama Pea would think of this, I have to realize you are in Minnesota! Thank goodness for the internet to bring us all closer, no?
Awww what a doll:)
You seem to have that affect on the little ones - their wanting to stay, I mean, not the putting them to sleep!
she's 5? Wow, she looks about 11 in that photo! Finn looks half that tall LOL. Good job on tiring her out, I'm sure she had a blast. So nice you were able to have family there. If you need a child fix, I can have mine on their way in an hour's notice... with no return address provided LOL!
Isn't it something when your young you can sleep through anything, but when you get older, every little noise makes you wake up. I want to sleep like that again!
MaineCelt - Well, aren't you the very complimentary sweetheart! (Where do I send the check?)
Apple Pie Gal - It was truly cute because she would go over to the couch and sit for a moment, then bounce back over to the activity, then back to sit on the couch, up again, etc. All of a sudden, out like a light!
Judy - Considering she's had next to no schedule since they've been here, we've done all kinds of busy-busy activities, and she's only 5 (and three-quarters), she has been a total angel and very well-behaved. The kind of little one you want to have around.
Susan - I know some people get too "hooked" on computers and the Internet but it has brought so many wonderful people (like you!) into my life that I would NEVER have connected with any other way. Hooray for Internet friendships! Long may they live!
Stephanie - That she is which I think is all due to her GREAT parents!
Jen - We put something in their lemondade. We're trying to raise a crew of willing workers to do all the work around here. ;o)
Erin - She is very tall. But so are most of the bean poles on hubby's side of the family. And you can't fool me; you wouldn't last a week without your two little comrades!
jane - It's the sleep of the innocent and unencumbered! No responsibilities, no work, no bills to pay, no worries. Sigh. If only we could hang on to some of those feelings longer, eh?
She is a cutie pie. To be able to sleep just about any where. Oh to be a kid again.
Holly
Holly Days - Our lives seem so busy that we can't get enough sleep, and yet so many times we plop into bed and then can't fall asleep. I think we (at least I) need some serious adjustment! Or perhaps just a lobotomy. ;o)
