Guess I won't be able to get my wedding ring on quite yet though.I slept a bit last night which was a big improvement from the night before.
You can see that the area right below my fingers is less swollen today. There is a bit of yellowish discoloration to my skin, but I'm sure that's just bruising of the tissues from the swelling.
At Jennifer Jo's suggestion, I'll milk it for all I can for a couple more days. (Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!) I do think cooking or washing dishes or vacuuming would be really bad for me, don't you?
Thanks for all the sympathy and well wishes. This is certainly nothing like a serious injury, but I'll take all the baby-ing I can get!

Glad the swelling is going down. Does this happen every time you're stung? As long as it doesn't get worse every time....geez. I think you should be lying in a hammock with grapes being peeled for you.
I agree with Apple Pie Gal, that is some serious swelling! Keep measuring your progress with that ring, but don't put it on LOL! I didn't swell with the wasp sting I got, but I sure do if I get a spider bite! Funny how our immune systems work.
Ouch! I have started swelling up like that from stings and now have to carry an epinephrine injection ("Epi-pen") in case it progresses to anaphylaxis next time. I'd highly recommend you get one to keep on hand. Throat closure is NOT fun.
Mine is itchy now. I hope you skip this step. It's not pleasant, but aloe with lidocaine (like for sunburns) seems to help, as does cortizone if you're into the whole steroids thing. Your hand already looks like you've taken steroids:-). Ha! I can laugh only because right in there with you!
Oh yeah! You can't do any domestic chores until that goes away.
Apple Pie Gal - Yes, I am! ;o) I do have a high pain threshold . . . which I think is good.
Susan - No, although I get more swelling than "normal" people do from mosquito bites, for instance, I think it was specifically the bumblebee that made this one so bad.
Erin - Spider bites get big on me, too. The only other time I've had this much swelling was a couple of years ago when a wasp got me right below an eyebrow. My eye swelled shut and the whole one half of my face puffed out like a balloon. Funny, but that one didn't hurt nearly like this one on the hand.
Claire - You're right. I saw a gal go into anaphylactic shock and it wasn't nice.
ThyHand - Yes! Mine has been very itchy from the start! But today that has subsided quite a bit on the hand but is driving me nuts where the swelling has gone up into my arm. I no longer have any evidence of an elbow! It's comforting (in a weird way) knowing we're going through this together!
Judy - Okay. It may stay just a little, tiny, teeny bit swollen for about a month though, don'tcha think?? ;o)
Oh, I 'm so sorry! Definitely serious. We have ground bees and ouch are they painful. I've never had that kind of swelling though. :(
Leigh - Around here, we have what are called ground hornets. I've only stepped in a nest of those once. Lots of stings but didn't swell up . . . happily!
